I This will be the official thread for Revolution facts and news. I locked other Revolution threads. Caution: The word MIGHT is said a lot. So don't get mixed up. Also I must of updated this thing like 20 times, so check the 'Edited last' and see if I added anything.
The Nintendo Revolution
IGN's pic
Revolution will not be the final name, but Nintendo also said that about the Nintendo DS, and hey ended up keeping it so we have to wait. The colors are also prototypes, white and I think black are the only real known colors.
Facts:
1)Its gonna come out Spring-Fall 2006. Nintendo might be the last to market of the big three. Sony has not given any info on launch either, the PS3 is also a Spring-Fall 2006 console. Microsoft's Xbox 360 will be released in November 22nd, 2005 in America.
2) ATi's 'Hollywood' graphics chip and IBM's 'Broadway' core processor is powering this beast and Broadcom's supporting the Wi-Fi in it. Around E3, a Nintendo rep said it'll be 2-3 times powerful than the GCN, but were later denied. It's still not known how much more powerful it is. At E3 itself, Iwata-san said when you see the games, you will go wow. Wow can't get better than that. Yea, OK thanks.
3)Controller. Finally at TGS '05, Iwata-san unveiled the Revolution's Controller. IGN states my feeling perfectly, "refreshingly original and slightly scary"
IGN's pic
Looks simple but contains:
* Remote control design: constructed to appeal to a wide variety of potential players
* 3D Pointing: Sensors understand up, down, left, right, forward and backward. The remote-like peripheral, which has been called the "free-hand style controller" and "pointer" by Nintendo, interacts with a sensor bar placed above, below, or near televisions. The bar contains two sensors that communicate with the controller using Bluetooth technology. The sensors read the pointer's every move in real-time space.
* Tilt Sensitive: Controller can be rotated or rolled from side-to-side. If you ever played Warioware Twisted, Yoshi's Topsy Turvy or Kirby's Tilt and Tumble, you know what I'm talking about, but those 3 mentioned games are 2D tilting(left and right only) with this it's 3D with front and back and everything in between(perfect for Super Monkey Ball).
* Buttons Included: Has a trigger(B) on its backside, A, a and b buttons, and a D-Pad. In thie pictures, the controller says a and b on the bottom, but when it was unvieled, it was X and Y. That was to solve confusion.
* Multifunctional: Has an expansion port which can be used with different types of controller peripherals. The first is an analog stick/trigger unit that Nintendo has dubbed the "nunchuck-style controller." The second is a conventional controller cradle/shell. Nintendo has also indicated that it might like to explore other expansions. It used Donkey Kong style bongos and a light gun as examples. Also you and one other person can use 2 freehand controllers as an interface. A demo used it as drumsticks.
* Wireless: Totally wire-free. Currently there are no details on the max distance, source or power, or otherwise. Looks like it takes regular batteries like the Wavebird, but Nintendo used the rechargable battery in regular gaming since the SP, so it should(and could) be rechargable in the end.
* Rumble Built-in. Included standard in all the controllers.
*And the coolest thing ever. A power button on the controller, that's not just for the controller, it's a console shut off switch so all that bending over just to turn it off isn't needed.
Nintendo hasn't released everything yet, but gave us a great idea on how to use it efficiantly. Even though the controller and ideas of it have been out, there can be infinite ideas on how this works and in the future we'll see how.
Ideas towards the controller(Quoted from IGN):
--Imagine a fishing game in which the pointer essentially becomes the fisherman's pole. Gamers simply make a casting motion to send the line flying and pull back on the pointer to tug a fish upward once it has taken the bait.
--In a sequel to Luigi's Mansion, the pointer might be used as a flashlight. Gamers point to the area they want to illuminate and Luigi's flashlight spotlights it. Voila.
--In a tennis game, the pointer becomes the racquet. Players swing the device as they would a racquet to smash tennis balls back at opponents.
--The list goes on and on and the options only increase when the peripheral's expansion functionality is considered
"The feeling is so natural and real, as soon as players use the controller, their minds will spin with the possibilities of how this will change gaming as we know it today," explains Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president. "This is an extremely exciting innovation - one that will thrill current players and entice new ones."
Since IGN already saw the controller, all they did was to unload everything. They made the perfect examples of how this controller will work with the current games. Here's the link so I don't type.

I am a bit scared, but do not underestimate Nintendo.
Here's a pic with the analog attachment:

4) Built in Wi-Fi. With a router, you can play games online. You can also hook up to your computer via USB 2.0 and can be hard wired via broadband, but if you can, but it will be 'difficult' to those whose consoles are in the living room, that's usually away from a Ethernet connection. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. And Nintendo will make their games free to play online, but third parties have the right to charge. Nintendo will release full info on the Wi-Fi in the near future(From TGS).
5) Backwards compatible. There is 4 GCN controller ports and 2 GCN memory card slots on the top of the console. The controller might be that much different that it cannot be a GCN controller. Also by using the Revolution's 'Virtual Console', you can download Nintendo-made NES SNES and N64 games with a small fee. The controller works like this: Turn the thing on the side to resemble the NES. Maybe future add-ons will make this work more. I think the GCN controller can do NES, SNES and N64.

6) Not only will it's pretty blue lit disk loader accept GCN disks, the Revolution will use 12 cm optical disks which is like the DVD-9(double thick DVD). It can play DVD movies, but like the Xbox, you need to buy an adapter for it. It's to cut down the price cause most people have a DVD player now.
7) The console lays horizontally and vertically like every next gen. It's size @ E3 was a little smaller than 3 DVD cases stacked together. Iwata-san announced that the final version will be even smaller! It also has a light gray base to put the console on.
8) It will use 256MB Memory cards. The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, and two USB 2.0 ports in the back. No Hard Drive but it might be able to connect to an external PC hard drive via USB 2.0 and you can save the older games and game saves. Also, Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory. It can hook up to a TV or computer monitor. Unlike the Xbox 360 and PS3, Nintendo will not support High Definition with their console, 480p(Progressive Scan) will be default, which is the one big time GCN games use. Nintendo did this to cut costs on the console and developers' cost to develop games.
9) Connects to the DS wirelessly. This is one use of the console's built in Wi-Fi. You might be able to go online via Revolution(if hard wired cause you can do it with the town's Wi-Fi(if your lucky to live there) or by the router) It will prob be used like the GCN/GBA connectivity also. Satoru Iwata has confirmed that via the Nintendo Revolution's download service, which is used for downloading classic Nintendo games for a fee, users will also be able to download Nintendo DS game demos. These demos can then be transmitted by the user onto their DS systems via the "DS Download Play" option.
10) Although Nintendo was worried on third party support, companies like their ideas. Sega, Ubisoft, Square-Enix, Bandai, Namco, Capcom, Activision, THQ, Koei and Konami pleged support. Konami said each console will have a flagship franchise. EA has not really been impressed when shown everything and will offer weak support. LucasArts also annouced support with all 3 next gens, which sounds like they will since Lego Star Wars getting ported to GCN.
Sega's President, Simon Jeffrey thinks Nintendo may see increased third-party support for the Nintendo Revolution. On the other hand, he also said that the Revolution's supposed revolutionary design and interface might have the opposite effect and distance developers instead.
Peter Molyneux of Lionhead Studios (Black and White, Fable, The Movies) was quizzed at the Leipzig European Games Convention; and has added to the positive comments from developers across the industry.
Molyneux had this to say of the Nintendo Revolution's controller:
"There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is: 'Never underestimate Nintendo'. That is all I can say about the controller."
'Game Over: Press Start to Continue' is a biography about Nintendo.
Brian Farrell, THQ's president, was interviewed by IGN and said that "Nintendo is waking up" and "We're seeing more from Nintendo now [for Revolution] than we have an any other Nintendo platform." And at TGS, he continiued to praise Nintendo. "Nintendo has long been a trailblazer, and this controller design reinforces that reputation. We enthusiastically support Nintendo's next console because we believe their approach of continual innovation is very much in line with our own strategy of creating unique and innovative games for the next generation of hardware."
"What we're seeing from this controller is the same thing we saw with Nintendo DS," said Chuck Huebner, Head of Worldwide Studios, Activision.. "It's a system that's designed with an eye on enticing new players to the video game industry, and that's something we firmly support."
At TGS, Hideo Kojima(Metal Gear Solid) said this to Nintendo:"'You've done it!' was my impression. This was totally unexpected. I was pleasantly surprised because the controller is quite comfortable yet provides something brand new."
Also, Final Fantasy XII producer Akitoshi Kawazu and Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii loves it.
11) Official games. The next installment of Super Mario and Super Smash Brothers(which is online!) will come out at the Revolution's launch. As other franchises, Zelda is underway, Retro Studios is doing Metroid Prime 3 and Donkey Kong is also confirmed by Miyamoto-san. Square-Enix announced Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Online. Also like Pikmin with the GCN, Nintendo will create one brand new franchise for this console. the GBA Golden Sun series was rumored for a Revolution version way back before E3 2004. Miyamoto said Pikmin would be perfect for the console but nothing is in the works. He also wants another Luigi's Mansion game. Also, Miyamoto-san said that he wants to do stuff like Stage Debut. Stage Debut is a tech demo that puts your face into the actual character. Ubisoft has many titles in development.
Many tech demos using the unique functions of the controller were shown including Metroid Prime 2 using the Revolution's controls(it worked damn well).
The Major Rumors that are left over:
-----------------
Price
It might be $199.99 which will not be a surprise, since it's been Nintendo's launch price since the SNES. But In the end, it might be even cheaper, which will surprise me. The $250 range isn't very surprising, but it will make Nintendo look bad to the $300 core console of the Xbox 360.
-----------------
Development Kits
We dunno if Revolution development kits are out, but big game companies have gone hands on with it. It's a good bet that they do have the kits since the controller is revealed and most companies have ideas on how to use it.
---------------
Xenias
This is a rumored game made by Nintendo's Retro Studios. It's supposed to be a online First Person Shooter. There was images, but the images were fake. I hope this game's true though.
---------------
NES, SNES and N64 games are remade graphically and online capability:
Nintendo said that they are testing the older games, that's true, but why are they testing? If you ever played Super Mario All-Stars? Well, they are Mario 1 2 3, and the Japanese Mario 2 known to us as the Lost Levels, but they got a graphical face lift than the NES counterparts. This rumor says that these d/l'ed games might be given graphical upgrades. Also Miyamoto-san said that its technically possible for older multiplayer games like Mario Party for the N64 to be online. Why do that though? No one plays a online game online for more than a year unless it's a big deal like Halo 2.
