NES, SNES and N64 games are remade graphically and online capability: Nintendo said that they are testing the older games, that's true, but why are they testing? If you ever played Super Mario All-Stars? Well, they are Mario 1 2 3, and the Japanese Mario 2 known to us as the Lost Levels, but they got a graphical face lift than the NES counterparts. This rumor says that these d/l'ed games might be given graphical upgrades. Also Miyamoto-san said that its technically possible for older multiplayer games like Mario Party for the N64 to be online. Why do that though? No one plays a online game online for more than a year unless it's a big deal like Halo 2. On the graphical note, they DID say there would/could be some graphical upgrades on some of the older games. EDIT: From the G4 interview, Iwata said that the graphics for the console would be slightly lower than the 360/PS3's STATISTICALLY, but you couldn't really tell the difference.

A new bit of info came out. Multiplayer games for the Revolution will be able to use the same technology as some DS games, enabling several players to play head-to-head on different consoles with only one copy of the game

Between the three next-gen consoles, I'd choose the Revolution first. I've heard that you can download old Nintendo games for free, but they have to be made by Nintendo. Also, I've heard that you can play multiplayer without paying anything.

Heard you will have to pay a fee to download those games. Not a high price fee, but a fee none the less. Nothing is free in this world and why would Nintendo pass up money like that. I know I would pay for a few games.

It will be a small fee for the games but the Nintendo WiFi Network is free. Free Smash Bros online That's all that matters!

I've heard this rumor that Sega is going to allow Revolution owner to download old Genesis games. Is this true?

No, at least not yet. No third party has confirmed to use the Revolution's Virtual Console. Some companies like Sega and Capcom announced that the Xbox's Live Arcade will feature games.
The reason that nothing really is coming from the Revolution standpoint is that the console prob isn't done. Counts of IBM finishing the prototype CPU "Broadway" has surfaced.
NEWS ON SMASH BROS! In 2003, one of HAL Lab's big players, Masahiro Sakurai, left to make his own studio, Sora. He also worked with Q Entertainment for making Meteos. Well Sakurai-san also made a little thing called Super Smash Bros(both versions). After his leave, gamers questioned what will happen to the Nintedno fighter. At E3 2005, Iwata-san announced Super Smash Bros for the Revolution under the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Well after E3, Iwata-san consulted with Sakurai and he's back for another round of Smash Bros for the Nintendo Revolution. It's great to hear that the SSB maker isn't done with Nintendo and their killer fighter. Good news indeed.

A sex toy? LOL!! Don't worry about it. It's only a prototype and Nintendo will do a few adjustments on it before it's launched. I have another question though. Will I be able to hook up the Game Boy Player to the Revolution?

1. What the hell is up with you sick, perverted bastards comparing the Revolution controller to a sex toy? Any normal person would realize that it is a remote control.
2. Also, don't except the controller to receive any kind of massive design overhaul, that is more or less what the final product will look like. They may do a few minor tweaks, but don't expect it to look much different.
I heard somewhere about the Game Boy Player's compatibility, but I don't remember if it would work or not. :/

Yeah. I know it won't change a lot. I've read that the buttons might be moved around.

Ok enough of that.
Well Nintendo announced that the Revolution's coming out party. It'll be unveiled at Nintendo's pre-E3 press event, which is slated for 9:30 a.m. Pacific time on May 9, 2006. The venue will be the Kodak Theatre--home of the Academy Awards--in Hollywood, California. -GameSpot

Get this. I was reading the new EGM at my public library. There was one page where it had quotes and comments from game producers in the industry. Most of them were talking about the Revolution's controller. Ted Price, who's the head of Insomniac, told EGM, and this is what he said verbatim, "My first thought was, 'Are they [Nintendo] crazy!?'" That really angered me.

Those mock ups were making me think "Sonic" for some reason. But that's kind of cool. So you can buy or rent? That kinda works. It's like getting games you want without leaving your home. But I would want to get all of the games so that would suck lol. I'd never be able to afford them. ...course i can't afford anything now, but still. Anyway, I like that virtual console thing.
ok... someone else post. i ran out of stuff to say

New patent discovered pertaining to Revolution's Virtual Console feature, found by the good guys over at Revolution Report. "A summary of the more interesting points is summarized below: * The application refers to storing a game program for a legacy console alongside a game program for the "newer-type" console all on one storage medium. This could be in reference to Nintendo planning to deliver its classic titles with Revolution titles. * The patent application states that the "home video game system" is capable of emulating a "legacy home video game system or a hand-held portable game system". This suggests Nintendo has at least given some thought to providing their Game Boy and DS software through the Virtual Console service. * A mysterious claim in the application says that the game machine can "use a high-speed computer instead of a special purpose-game machine to execute game programs." This can be interpreted several ways, but it seems to hint at some possible Revolution-PC connectivity. * In the previous patent, replacing characters in legacy games using a graphics replacement technique was discussed. This application expands on this idea, saying it can also be used to "suitably change the map or other characters." This once again falls in line Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's comments in June 2005, stating that "with Revolution, we may be able to see the old games with new looks." * Last but not least, the patent application also claims that this technology is not limited to game machines created by Nintendo, but is applicable to the older and newer game machines of "other manufacturers." This is most likely stated to prevent other companies from stealing this technique of backwards compatibility, but it could also likely mean that other legacy console manufacturers such as Sega or SNK could provide classic content in a similar manner via Nintendo's Virtual Console." - Revolution Report articleAs far as that last point goes, OH YES. GENESIS ON THE REVOLUTION PLEASE.

well i wish that would happen. but as of right now, i don't think it will yet. anyway, as much as i'd like genesis stuff on the the revolution, it is Nintendo, so it should stick to nintendo games. if this works out real well, then i'll want to see a console later on that has genesis and other stuff like that on it. heck, i'd even want dreamcast stuff. but stick to nintendo for now...

nintendonow.e-mpire.com/index.php?categoryid=4&m_articles_start=&m_articles_articleid=3454&com_action=displaycomments#commentsRevolution: Upright Stand to be System's Power Supply The little gray stand does more than just hold the console in its upright position. By Jordan Ringo - 02-16-06 Print Email Last weekend Nintendo Now reported that Europe’s Official Nintendo Magazine would launch with an exclusive Revolution hands-on and more. As it turns out, beyond already known facts, nothing all that “exclusive” was revealed -- except for one tiny shred of information… If what the (official) magazine said is correct, the stand that holds the Revolution upright will also act as its power source. This may mean that gamers should expect not to see a gargantuan box coming out from behind Nintendo’s system -- something that Microsoft’s console counterpart has received much flack for. The official word from the magazine is as follows: nintendonow.e-mpire.com/modules/game_media/images/7354.jpgWhile some individuals seem skeptical, rightfully reasoning that this would require the stand to have some sort of plug-ins or ports, it is necessary to remember that only initial models of the Revolution have been shown up until now. Therefore, at this moment, consider what the official magazine said to be fact. ------------------- woot!

That would be very nice, except where do you put the stand when its horizontal?
Also at the D.I.C.E. Conference, Reggie said one again that E3 will show everything and not the Game Developers Conf. next month, but Iwata-san will be talking and it might be a bit of more news or huge DS news(please iPod Advance!).

GDC 2006. -Sega and Hudson will put Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx games onto the Nintendo Virtual Console along with NES, SNES and N64 games. "Games specifically developed for the SEGA Genesis and for the TurboGrafx console will also be playable on Nintendo Revolution. Not all of them -- but the best of them will be" -IGN --Retro Studios helped in the making of the Revolution controller and basically made the nunchuck attachment. --Spider Man 3 announced for Revolution --"Most important story is still to be told: how developers will work with the new consoles. Huge amounts of money are needed to market games, to create the elaborate graphics, etc. Elaborates on Nintendo's desire to do something different -- provide solutions for people with great ideas. Nintendo understands importance of graphics. Games like Mario, Zelda, Metroid will all look better than ever. But those will not be the only types of games. Stresses innovation. Essential to reach new audience: younger people, older people. Nintendo is commited to creating a development environment that lets developers and publishers expand and express themselves. In a few weeks, you will play and see and understand our philosophy. Videogames are meant to be one thing: fun." -IGN Wasn't much news on Nintendo's front, this and Zelda: PH announced. !! I This will be the official thread for Nintendo Wii facts and news. I locked other Wii threads. Caution: The word MIGHT is said a lot. So don't get mixed up. Also I must of updated this thing like 20 times, so check the 'Edited last' and see if I added anything. The Nintendo Wii IGN's pic Wii is the final name to the console code-named Revolution. The colors are also prototypes, white and I think black are the only real known colors. Facts: 1) Release and Price. Nintendo has not given us a price or date, but did hint to it. Nintendo will tell us before September's Tokyo Game Show. *Its gonna come out Q4 2006, Iwata-san said Nintendo won't launch after Thanksgiving, cause they need the holiday season. Nintendo might or might not be the last to market of the big three. Sony is releasing the PS3 in America on November 17, 2006. My guess, the Sunday before Thanksgiving (The DS and GCN was launched on a Sunday, instead of Tuesday like most games, DVDs and Gear, like the 360). It won't be more than $250. It might be $199.99 which will not be a surprise, since it's been Nintendo's launch price since the NES. But In the end, it might be even cheaper, which will surprise me. The $249 range isn't very surprising, but it will make Nintendo look bad to the $299 core console of the Xbox 360. Iwata-san said in order of the non-gamers to obtain it, the hardware must be affordable. Nintendo did announce that it'll be the cheapest out of the 3. Estimates now are $199 or as low as $149 *If you don't know the console prices: -Xbox 360: $299 Core system and $399 Premium -PlayStation 3: $499 Stripped version and $599 Complete 2) ATi's 'Hollywood' graphics chip and IBM's 'Broadway' core processor is powering this machine. IGN has gotten the specs on the console's first development kits(which are upgraded by now) from developers, and here's the quote: "Revolution[Wii] will build on GameCube's configuration of 24MBs 1T-SRAM and 16MBs D-RAM (40MBs) by adding an addition 64MBs of 1T-SRAM. The result is a supply of memory in Revolution[Wii] that totals 104MBs. That number does not consider either the 512MBs of allegedly accessible (but hardly ideal) Flash RAM or the Hollywood GPU's on-board memory, said to be 3MBs by sources. Wii's Broadway CPU, developed by IBM, is an extension of the Gekko CPU in GameCube, according to official Nintendo documentation passed to us by software houses. The Hollywood GPU, meanwhile, is believed to be an extension of the Flipper GPU in GameCube. Since developers have not gone hands-on with the GPU, they can only go on Nintendo documentation, which is limited." Clock rates are roughly doubled the GCN's. 3)Controller. At TGS '05, Iwata-san unveiled the Wii's Controller, named the Wiimote. -Nintendo's pic Looks simple but contains: * Remote control design: constructed to appeal to a wide variety of potential players * 3D Pointing: Sensors understand up, down, left, right, forward and backward. The remote-like peripheral, which has been called the "free-hand style controller" and "pointer" by Nintendo, interacts with a sensor bar placed above, below, or near televisions. The bar contains two sensors that communicate with the controller using Bluetooth technology. The sensors read the pointer's every move in real-time space. * Tilt Sensitive: Controller can be rotated or rolled from side-to-side. If you ever played Warioware Twisted, Yoshi's Topsy Turvy or Kirby's Tilt and Tumble, you know what I'm talking about, but those 3 mentioned games are 2D tilting(left and right only) with this it's 3D with front and back and everything in between. * Buttons Included: Has a trigger(B) on its backside, A, 1 and 2 buttons, and a D-Pad. * Multifunctional: Has an expansion port which can be used with different types of controller peripherals. -The first is an analog stick/trigger unit that Nintendo has dubbed the "nunchuck-style controller." It is also motion sensitive and has a Z and C trigger with an analog stick. -Also a Shotgun attachment is used for Dunk Hunt 2 Nintendo has also indicated that it might like to explore other expansions. It used Donkey Kong style bongos and a light gun as examples. Also you and one other person can use 2 freehand controllers as an interface. A demo used it as drumsticks. * Wireless: Looks like it takes AA batteries like the Wavebird. * Rumble Built-in. Included standard in all the controllers. *And the coolest thing ever. A power button on the controller, that's not just for the controller, it's a console shut off switch so all that bending over just to turn it off isn't needed. *BUT!! you need a sensor bar on top or bottom of your TV. Here's a pic of the old Wiimote with the analog attachment: IGN's pic Here's the Shotgun attachment -GameSpot's pic Also, Nintendo is making a controller to work well with SNES and N64 games that you download. Looks like a SNES/PS2 crossover. -GameSpot's pic 4) Built in with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With a router, you can play games online, and seen with the instant success with the DS, it won't be a problem. And Nintendo will make their games free to play online, but third parties have the right to charge(which most won't). Red Steel and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are confirmed for Wi-Fi play. It will be like the DS with Friend Codes for your buddy list. 5) Backwards compatible. There is 4 GCN controller ports and 2 GCN memory card slots on the top of the console. The controller might be that much different that it cannot be a GCN controller. Also by using the Wii's 'Virtual Console', you can download Nintendo-made NES SNES and N64 games, SEGA Genesis games and Turbografx games with a small fee. The controller works like this: Turn the thing on the side to resemble the NES. IGN's pic 6) Not only will it's pretty blue lit disk loader accept GCN disks, the Revolution will use 12 cm optical disks which can store 4.7GBs of data on a single layer or 8.5GBs when double-layered on a single-side. This is a massive jump from the 1.5GB capacity of GameCube discs and more than enough storage capacity for any non-high-definition game. It can play DVD movies, but like the Xbox, you need to buy an adapter for it. It's to cut down the price cause most people have a DVD player now. 7) The console lays horizontally and vertically like every next gen. It's size @ E3 was a little smaller than 3 DVD cases stacked together. It also has a light gray base to put the console on. It's less than a quarter of the size of the Xbox. 8) The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory for Virtual Console downloads, might not sound a lot, but older games were in the kilobytes. Also, it has two USB 2.0 ports in the back. No Hard Drive but it might be able to connect to an external PC hard drive via USB 2.0 and you can save the older games and game saves. Also, Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory. It can hook up to a TV or computer monitor. Unlike the Xbox 360 and PS3, Nintendo will not support High Definition with their console, 480p(Progressive Scan) will be default, which is what big time GCN games use. Nintendo did this to cut costs on the console, consumer and developers' cost to develop games. It will also have Parental Controls. 9) Will never turn off or never go offline. How long does the PS2 take to start a game? 30 seconds. Nintendo wants this startup obliterated. With WiiConnect24, it will stay on standby if the console's 'off.' It will go right to the game when it's back on. It won't take a hit on your electric bill either. When it's on standby, it'll drain as much as a mini lightbulb. Also with WiiConnect24, it won't get off the Nintnedo Wi-Fi Connection, eliminating wait times for connecting online. With this, a game like Animal Crossing can truely have people in their town while that person who owns it is asleep. 10) You can browse online. Nintendo has the Opera web browser for the Wii and DS. 11) Connects to the DS wirelessly. It will prob be used like the GCN/GBA connectivity also. Satoru Iwata has confirmed that via the Wii's download service, which is used for downloading classic Nintendo games for a fee, users will also be able to download Nintendo DS game demos. These demos can then be transmitted by the user onto their DS systems via the "Download Play" option. 12) Extra info. *This is Nintendo's last console...... without High Def. Nintnedo announced that their console after Wii will be HD compatible. *Nintendo expects to sell at least 60 million Wii's. Triple the GameCube's --------------- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| I'll Modify if anything comes. And I modify A LOT.

11) Official games. -The next installment of Super Mario -Super Smash Brothers(which is on the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection!) will come out at(or near) the Revolution's launch. -Zelda is underway. Somewhat... -Retro Studios is doing Metroid Prime 3 -Hideki Konno(EAD Producer) officially announced that he is in the works with Mario Kart Revolution. Konno-san states in Nintendo Power, "As you know, Mario Kart has appeared on all of Nintendo's platforms so far, and I think it's done its job on the DS, or at least I hope it will with what's new, so the next logical step, of course, is the Revolution. Really what we hope to do is continue to bring new and creative things to the franchise that appeal not only to our established user base, but also bring new people into the game." -Konno-san was busy announcing games cause in Wired Magazine, he announced a cooking game for the Revolution. -Donkey Kong is also confirmed by Miyamoto-san. -Animal Crossing: Wild World's producer Katsuya Eguchi confirmed that a Animal Crossing title was in development for the Revolution -Possibly the first official game announced for the Revolution way before E3 '05, Camelot announced an RPG for the Revolution. It could be the next Golden Sun. Could. -Square-Enix announced Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Online. -Like Pikmin with the GCN and Nintendogs for the DS, Nintendo's genius, Miyamoto-san will create one brand new franchise for this console. -IGN's list of official Revolution games states a Batillion Wars sequel is underway and the cut multiplayer in the GCN sleeper hit will be full out(hopefully online). -IGN's list also announced a new Trauma Center: Under the Knife for the Revolution by Atlus after Nintendo Power hinted it. -Suda 51(Head of Grasshopper Studios, the guys behind Killer7) is on way into a Revolution game. -Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 from Bandai-Namco -Treasure (Radient Silvergun/Ikaruga/Wario World) announced that at least one Revolution game will be in development. -Ubisoft has Red Steel, a first-person shooter that enables players to take control of a sword and an assortment of guns. -Natsume has a title in development(Could be a new installment of their Harvest Moon series, which has done a good history on Nintendo platforms). -Hideo Kojima(Metal Gear) is making a Revolution title. -Tecmo announced support of the Revolution with a Revolution version of the popular Pangya golf series. The Revolution version is tentatively titled Skatto Golf Pangya Revolution and is set for the Revolution's launch. But this game might hot hit American shores. -EA's games: Could be anything, Madden is probably a no-brainer since Madden was still on the PS1 since 2005! And '06 was on basically everything(hell, they still do GBA versions) EA also linceses roughly everything so it could be from a movie, or more sports games. -Hudson Soft has a flight game -Sega is making Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz -Activision announced Spider-Man 3 using the features of the Revo controller. -Tony Hawk Downhill Jam by Activision -THQ is making Disney/Pixar Cars for the Revolution. -THQ is also doing a Spongebob game -THQ is also doing Avatar: The Last Airbender game -Capcom has something else in the works other than Grasshopper's game, if Capcom is producing it. -Midway announced a title in development, but a trailer of Stranglehold said "ALL next-gen consoles," and said a Revolution version might come out later, but a different title is confirmed -Raid Over the River, a vertical shooter by Upstart Studio(also coming on the DS) -Sadness, a gothic horror game by Upstart Studio -Also The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be able to use the Revolution's controller for various actions. ^That's a lot of games now^ I had it put in today. I was actually gonna post that, but since it added a page, I had to put the info on top. Also, gotta add a new title from Konami: Elebits. In Elebits, players move around a game world, attempting to find and collect Elebit creatures. Elebits are small and cute like Pikmin, but they actually serve as the energy source that makes the game's world move. The "Ele" in the name appears to stand for Electricity, with the "Bits" reflecting that the characters are tiny. As you find Elebits, the game world will slowly evolve. The game will offer a feel of "hunting," suggesting that perhaps the Elebits won't just be sitting around waiting to get caught. Update: Madden is now official on the Wii. It'll play totally different than it would. Update on how Hudson's flight game is working out.: "Take to the skies in a way never before experienced on any home console. Using the Revolution's 'Gesture System' built into their innovative controller, Hudson's new 'Flight Game' allows total plane control as players pilot their planes through various acrobatic flight maneuvers ranging from sky artistry to bomb drops." Ok I had to modify now. Nintendo announced the real name for the Revolution, it's now the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo says: "Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything."'Wii' will see more at E3- That was me.... sorry. Ok here's the idea on the Wii name: The name was meant to do this. He called it "Terrible and brilliant." People are gonna insult it, but everyone will talk about it, whoever they are, but the thing is, nobody cannot resisting talking about it. It's a marketing strategy by Nintendo. Like the ilovebees thing. People who don't get into gaming will hear this weird ass name, wonder what it is and people see the system and how simple its games are, and then buy it. People who game will continue with the name, becoming a huge big deal. Like GTA, publicity sells, no matter how bad it is. Then Nintendo will use the name as a pun, using "Wii" as "we," basically giving them their straight forward marketing, like the name wasn't meant to do this. That is the true nature of "Blue Ocean" marketing, because everyone knows about it. If you're here to insult the name, your post will be deleted and let me upfront tell you that you're nothing but shallow. You can dislike it, but don't flame. There's been a lot of additions to the game list. Games are truely showing up now.
