Nearly 400,000 thousand copies have been sold world-wide!
The Febuary numbers and in, and they're looking sweet. Yes, Sonic Heroes continues to be the driving force behind Sega's console line up, with Kunoichi (or Night Shade, as Sega of America likes to call it) not even touching the top 20. While the sales for Sonic Heroes on GC have gone down signifigantly since since January, PS2 and Xbox sales more than pick up the slack. Here is a list for sales on all three platforms for Febuary:
PS2: 84,098
Gamecube: 76,506
Xbox: 36,544
This adds up to: 197,148 units.
After doing some more simple math, adding the January sales of 199,032 units, the total amount of Sonic Heroes units sold in it's first two months is: 396,180 units. In other words, Sonic Heroes sold a loooot of games, as that is nearly half of what Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, one of the best selling games of all time, has sold since it launched. It should prove interesting to see how Sonic Heroes fairs on all 3 major platforms in the coming months. Who knows, it might be the first 3D Sonic game to sell over 1 million at this rate. Of course, that's just a wild hope.
This information was gathered by NPD Funworld.

This may be a random guess... but you have a Dreamcast, right? I heard rumours that Sonic Heroes was going to be on Dreamcast as the beginnign of Sega's new hope to regain their title. However, they noticed that if they brought back the Dreamcast at that point.... It would of bombed.

Dreamcast isnt powerful enough, not enough buttons on the controller, and retaillers won't sell Dreamcast games and they use CD's not DVD's like XBox and PS2 or Gigadisks (or wtfever they're called) like GCN, so it prob won't fit in a CD(It prob knowing how much is in the game.)

Yes, but if it was to happen. Sega would have to play their cards right. They would have to create other games, and they would have to bring that the DC at the perfect time... Otherwise it will be crashing and bombing.
We don't want to have Sega follow the Nintendo Red's footsteps.

Gigadisks? You mean like a GD-ROM? (Gigabyte Disc)? And as for the # of buttons, the only real difference between a Playstation and Dreamcast controller is 1 less shoulder button per side, and no 'select' button, so that's not really much of an issue either, really...

Maybe a combination of buttons could of done the Team Blast. Like pressing both the L & R shoulder buttons at the same time.

Well, no... the PS2 did not outsell the GCN version. The numbers that have been provided for PS2, GCN, and Xbox show the totals for February. The GCN version sold like hotcakes in January, when it was first released. If we had the exact number of GCN copies sold in Jan., and we added that to the February GCN sales... I'm almost positive that the total number will be higher than the combined Jan. and Feb. PS2 sales....

Sure. I'll try looking for the January totals now. I wonder what results I'll find... assuming I find anything, lol...

Hey! I was browsing a site today when I came across Sonic Heroes sales numbers!!! The numbers for the last few months... "Here's the NPD numbers for Sonic Heroes... Gamecube: 58,582 Xbox: 19,960 PS2: 52,699 Total: 131,241 Add that to the sales of the last two months (396,180), and the total sales of the US version of Sonic Heroes are: 527,421. Not bad for our cool blue heroe. We may see him it over a million by the end of the year if this keeps up."

Am I the only PS2 owner here? Jeez. The controls work excellently in the PAL version (Asia-PAcific) especially using an NTSC TV at 60 hz (Now that's confusing!). In other words, the Asia-Pacific/European version on an American TV. This way the change leader button doesn't skip and you have almost instant reaction to your controls.
I can't see any problem with the button placing. It's actually quicker to use the pad buttons than the shoulder buttons once you're used to it.
