The Battle Cards have been redone and are here for testing. You may have noticed some alert boxes and colors changing, during the debugging, but for the most part, they shouldn't leave the Test Board. There are still more things to test and features to add to the cards. If this is your first time viewing them, or if one of the scripts is updated, it may take a moment for them to load. But once that's done, they should be cached. This topic will be edited accordingly as more tests are done. Please submit your feedback and post here with any problems you may find. Here's a compatibility list for the current progress. This will be edited accordingly as more tests are done. FireFox 1.5 RC2 | Slow to cache, fastest performance afterwards. | FireFox 1.0.7 | Works great, fast rendering | Mozilla 1.7.11 | Same as FireFox, just not as fast. | Netscape | Untested | Internet Explorer 6 and 7 Beta 1 | Buggy. If you get a n "Object Required" error, wait for all images to load and then refresh the page. You may have to repeat this step up to 5 times. | Opera | Works | Safari | Works |

So what features can we expect to see with the cards in the future? Because right now they seem very plain.

So what features can we expect to see with the cards in the future? Because right now they seem very plain. More ideas for them are needed. But planned features are to add options into user profiles. The options so far are: - Turn on / off the Battle Cards for those that have problems with the cards or don't like them. Will likely use cookies but may be disabled by default if a cookie couldn't be created (for those diabetic web browsers or those behind a fixed access list).
- An option to disable card transformations. With this, you can have your card show up as normal even for those viewing with the Battle Cards enabled (your posts would be skipped).
Everyone is free and encouraged to submit their ideas to make this project better.

Can we fit the Age, Gender and Location in the card's body?

A problem with the username output was fixed now. It only displayed the text rather than cloning the entire link to each members' profiles. It may be possible to have the messenger / homepage / etc icons displayed, but at the moment, doing that would make a mess. This is because the images are of different / uneven sizes (some greater than 16x16, some larger). To align properly, all images should be 16x16 (this means the Yahoo one has to be bigger and the MSN icon has to be smaller). While it may be easy to add padding for the small icons, and ruin the MSN icon, original icon art that would fit the board's theme would look best. We'll need spriters for that. As for Personal Text (appears under your avatar in normal board view), limits may be enforcable by forcing the overslow to cut off rather than stretch the cards, ruining background repeats. But there may not be much space for text, so the text may be cut off unexpectedly.

why didn't it work with the last few posters? In IE, The posts after BitFox's weren't rendered because IE doesn't know how to handle null or missing nodes properly. Works fine in FireFox. I fixed it so that it doesn't attempt to read values from an avatar if it doesn't exist for a member that posted.

Netscape 8 uses 3 different rendering engines - Gecko (Firefox), Netscape, and Mosaic (IE). Please tell which you are using.

Battle cards do not work on the BlackBerry browser with default settings. I will do more testing to see if it will work with certain settings when I have the time.

I would be surprised if they did work on a protable device. What does it support? My guess is that it has limited or no support for javascript at all.

Actually, it does support Javascript; Ijve used it in the past (ex: dslreport's speedtest. It also supports flashn but I've disabled that manually because it tends to add roo many advertisementsn which in turnn slow this down like crazy. As you can tell by the name, I'm not only on it, but will be using it foe the next few days. (Maybe now I'll have a chance to experiment)

I should put together a test script that tests what the browser supports and also test each thing visually to make sure it works properly. Portable devices now do more things than I realized. Opera 8.5 has been announced since January and says it supports Javascript and DOM. There's also been talk about Opera being ported to the Nintendo DS. The PSP is also supposed to have support for javascript and DOM too. I should have something done by next week, so I'll need some testers. I've been complimented on having Safari support with the cards, so as long as the portable browsers meet the requirements and are configured properly, little to no changes should be needed, but that will be determined after the testing.

Opera is coming to the DS in Japan, hopefully it comes here. It should. If not, I'll import. Ever since the WiFi stuff for the DS was known, I always wanted FireFox to be ported. I'm not too familiar with Opera, but atleast it's something. I see people bringing their laptops into McDonalds and paying like $3 per hour for internet. But with Nintendo's deal with Wayport, there's no charge or setup needed for going online with the DS at McDonalds locations that have it. I play against people in Tetris DS online all the time during lunch. I don't know if the browser will be part of the WFC though since there's no competitive gaming about it. I didn't think about it before, but for those testing the Battle Cards on portable devices, remember that you have to enter your profile and enable them again since the preference isn't saved online. They're disabled by default.
