Um... yeah... XFox about this place, I really don't think we're using it anymore. It's kinda just sitting here. Makes me wonder if you have any plans in the future for it.
O.o This place is dead...

The Sonic Battle skinning project has been idle for awhile. The first reason was waiting for Proboards v4, but another difficulty that came up is getting the positioning to work with mixed elements, such as image alignment and text. It worked fine in IE, which doesn't ask much, but we want bigger results. I don't know if simple string finding, text ranges, regular expressions, would work best either once the templates are ready to be dynamically inserted.

I took a look at it again today and started working on it. A sample page showing the progress of the template is at xfox.digibase.ca/board/battle/card.htm, along with an the original screenshot below it (3x zoom). It uses CSS and HTML tables. The coding isn't simplified yet, but so far it works in both FireFox and IE. If it goes well, it could be finished anytime around New Years, or maybe as soon as Tails' 13th Anniversary .

So after all this time, they're going to be done anywhere from November to January from what you're saying.

IE and firefox is all you need really IMO, I'm not much of an online programmer, I'm more of a game programmer.

For the first release, they may be missing until we know what to do with the big open area of the card. Having the card alone ready would be an improvement. Some may like the card more than the messengers, some may not. But that's why nobody will be forced to enable the card features. In the future, there may be ways to fit more into the small area, such as a pulldown form menu or text tooltips, etc. There will be an announcement when the cards are ready and an option to use them will appear in each user's profile.

So far, various member elements such as usernames, online status, post counts, and avatars are able to be read. The next step is to rewrite the block using the card output while inserting each of those elements into it. This has to be done dynamically. The scripts will use and obey the rules of XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and the DOM. At this point, there's no critical problems preventing IE from reading the values as accurately as FireFox does without having to use different conditional methods per browser. The scripts will be using the DOM to read and write elements to ensure speed, stability, and compatibility. Although the first card script worked only in IE, it relied on the browser-specific "innerHTML" property, along with string searching and splitting. When I revived this project, IE compatibility wasn't something I was expecting, but if it works without having to make exceptions, we can't complain.
