Most of you probably hate the idea of having to shorten your avator text (and it's hard to make sure everyone stays within the 2 line limit that the cards have room for). So here is a poll. I could set a limit to how much you can enter in your profile, or I can disable the card for you automatically if it's too big. That would mean those who can stay within the limit will have a card, and those who don't won't see any changes (or limits and card). That should make everyone happy.

well, cutting off whatever is under line 2 and limiting how much we can type in is the EXACT same thing, pretty much, but i think adding a max is the correct thing, or maybe for a bit more freedom, if you think you should (pretty much would be vote #2), make whatever passes line 2 be deleted. i dont think disabling the effects of the card is a good idea, for the message boards will then look funny, some with cards, some without...
(btw, like my avatar?)

I chose disabling the card if they're over 2 lines, because it gives a little incentive to not be lazy. BTW: It's spelled 'avatar', not 'avator'.

If I were to limit how much you can put in your profile, then you'd know if your sentence wouldn't fit or not and wouldn't have to test it out. But if I cut off the line that doesn't fit, you wouldn't know until you see it. So this (btw, like my avatar?) If I put a limit in how much text you can put in your profile for this item, then you'd know exactly how much room you have and if you'd have to change things around before leaving your profile and testing it out. However, if I cut off the 3rd or more line that stretches, you would have to go back and forth between your profile and testing it until you get it right (which can be a pain). And then there's option 3. If you don't like the cards, I won't force you to follow their new rules. With option 3, your avatar area won't be converted (no card, no additional stars, larger avatar if implemented, etc). It's totally up to you. Some say change isn't good. But I think these changes will benefit all.

Besides, everyone gets 300 characters of signature space. If something doesn't fit, it can always go down there. Therefore, I think disabling the card display is the best option.

If anyone's avator text is too big, they will be skipped and will not have the Battle Card effects displayed for them. All you have to do is shorten your avator text and it will work for you. This may need some adjusting unless I set it to a fixed width font, but approximately 104 characters (letters, numbers, spaces, other punctuation, etc) is too big, so that's the limit.

That's not fair. Someone could deliberately make their text over the limit, and you wouldn't be able to see their battle card, which would completely screw the forums up. I say just limit the length of what people can enter in the title textbox. Or, even better, just remove that field, and replace it with the ranks ("Average Sonic Bait", etc.)

Or, even better, just remove that field, and replace it with the ranks ("Average Sonic Bait", etc.) It will not screw the forums up. It's a failsafe to prevent the layout from overflowing, preventing it from causing problems. If their text is too big, it would cause the card to stretch and images in the card background will have unwanted gaps. When a member is skipped, it just means their profile won't be displayed with the effects. It will move around them and attempt the next member in the thread, and so on. The avatar text limit won't really be in effect unlessl I set a small fixed width font rather than depending on how many letters a string of text may contain.

Put a limiter on because streching the page kinda sucks to read
