I just saw the commercial and its not as bad as Nintendo's other commercials but based on the "Wii would like to play" format, but something just gets to me.
It takes place in a TV store..... with HDTVS everywhere. Where the letters HDTV everywhere on the ceiling and in front of TVs..... to a console that's not HD.
I feel it proves Nintendo dropped the ball on making the system non HD, and they know it. Proven in multiple accounts, including Nintendo's official voting system, the Everybody Votes Channel.

Nintendo was nice enough to allow all GameStops who are doing a tourney this Saturday to try out Smash after hours in our own stores, so I have some first impressions. Just for you to know:
1) Didn't touch Subspace so don't ask 2) Played Classic mode and plain old free for all multiplayer 3) I unlocked 2 characters, and that's all I'll talk about and want to talk about.
First, it feels a bit different. The pace slowed a bit thanks to the addition to adding animations(some very lengthly too) A lot of stages felt small sadly, making 4 player combat very hectic.
I decided to design a stage to try it out. Any song can be used which is a plus but damn... only like 30 things you can make a stage with. Doesn't even feel worth it.
Classic mode is mostly the same, but no more Board the Platforms and no Race to the Finish and no Wireframe/Fighting Polygon Team match and there's 2 Break the Targets.
Sonic and Snake are NOT unlocked from the start.
During my few hours I played as Mario, Ike, Metaknight, Wario, Bowser, Pokemon Trainer, Link, Pikachu, and Fox. I could not get a feeling for any of them, with the exceptions of Squirtle(as Trainer) and Link. This new speed really drains the feeling of them. Slower chgaracters have an advantage, and Bowser wasn't as bad as he is in Melee.
-Spoilers-
Unlocked Ganondorf in minutes (my fav character in Melee) and wow is he improved. He feels so much fluid and his Warlock Punch gives no warning anymore. I can see I'm using him. Also unlocked Ness, but I always hated him.
So in conclusion of a few hours of Brawl, it doesn't give the best first impressions, but once we get used to it, it'll feel natural.

How are people getting their copies already. I don't know if i can hold out until Sunday I'm a nervous wreck right now and I keep going insane. Not a pretty site. Anyway have you tried Multi Man Brawl yet? I wanna know if DK would be the way to go to unlock my character.

Something I've been dying to know, what is the best control method?

hey Marik, have the midair actions changed much since melee? I've heard that it is less restrictive...

After playing some more tonite, it feels much smoother than my first impression. It feels like normal now and getting used to characters is making the feeling more natural.
Also started the events. They kick ass so far and better yet, have a difficulty option, easy, normal and hard. Always do hard, because you need to to get the trophies, new stages, etc. That and theres no point in the easier options.
-2 character spoilers-
Unlocked Marth, happy they restricted the little bastard. His standard B move changed and he doesn't have that terrible arc that coves him on all sides. Feels much better too.
When you unlock characters, other characters move to different places on the selection screen, so you tend to feel how the layout will be with each unlocked character. Sometimes. Ganondorf's been moving all over the board.
Answer, yes. Kinda. The Alloy Warriors(the Wireframes of Brawl) are more complex then their counterparts; they grab and have different forms with individual powers. Also during the 100-Man Brawl, they mix normal characters at every 25 KOs. It's harder, but most of the game is harder. I tried several times as both Ganondorf and DK blasting through and always fail with 25 remaining. It takes some practice, with getting hit adds up % real quick and annoying items to screw you.
GameCube controller naturally. Classic would be a nice option if you used the D-pad and not the analog stick. Proves this game would suck on a PlayStation. I believe you can map the controller to your personal pref now though too. Anything with the Wii's remote involved sucks without remorse. Wavebird suffers the lack of rumble, which in Melee and Brawl, make you feel disadvantaged.
For the most part no, but every once in a while you can feel a rebalance on a character. I see Ganondorf's mid air punch(side+A midair) isn't as deadly as Melee's but most characters remain unchanged. They focused on meteor smashes, which are down+A in midair moves(like Samus' punch) that slams you straight downward.
-spoiler end-
This is prob the last post before the game comes out.... so don't expect me on for a while.

Marik, I think I'm doing something wrong with this game.
I have yet to earn Jigglypuff... is there something wrong with me?!

No, it's not the same to unlock Jig this time. I dunno how, but it's not the usual "Beat Something" as it was in the last 2 games.
In other news, some people who waited patiently for this game for years.... cannot play it on their Wii. Due to Smash being the first dual layered Optical Disk for Wii, the lens that reads the disks need to be very picky in terms of reading this special disk. But for some, their lens might be a little dirty and thus, no Smashy for them. Nintendo is pulling a Microsoft and are repairing systems for free.

I would have thrashed around my house if my Wii didn't work. But I do have a problem with it. memory card slot A won't work, so I can't play my gamecube games on it. But its not a big deal, because my gamecube works really well. D: Wait, so what was that update all Wii's got when you first put the game in?

Metroid and Mario did it too. It's just a automatic firmware update. Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP do it too.
