...Finish the War September 25th.
The Halo 3 Beta ends tonite and what a hell of a beta. I would have played more if my internet problems didn't interfere with it. Man I feel like a era passed, knowing I won't be able to play that for another 100+ days. Depressing really. It was a lot of fun and it's sad to see it go. Who knew 3 maps was all it needed to be fun as hell? Luckily, this beta only makes the final version that much sweeter. I'm not any huge Halo fan, but I respect the series deeply. It came out of nowhere when Halo: Combat Evolved launched for the Xbox and what a runaway success. Only 2 games came out in this series so far and yet Microsoft generated millions upon millions of dollars on it. Halo 2 grossed more money in its opening week that the biggest movie of 2004's first week. Every time something about Halo 2 came up, I always had to know about it. I took trips to 7-11 cause a Halo cup was there (I still have that Elite one), I bought a Halo 2 shirt at EB at the midnight opening. I have Crackdown because of the Beta (decent game though). I have my Legendary Edition reserved and can't wait to shell the cash for it.
Bungie is one hell of a company. Even though none of them are gonna read this, I'll still say it to show my deepest respect: Thank you. Thank you for giving the chance to experience Halo 3 early. Thanks for making it interesting along the way. Thanks for extending the beta after the unfortunate delay on the first day. Thanks for making Halo 3 so much better than Halo 2. Thanks for putting the time and effort to deliver this beta even though you're hard at work on delivering the retail version. Thanks for all this doing this for me and everyone else that had fun playing this. Thanks for doing something other company wouldn't. Thanks for making me walk away from this beta completely satisfied. And thank you for teaching me this example of kindness a game developer should give to fans, so that I could implement this in my own upcoming gaming career (Which is coming up closer and closer).
This is why in the last year I have become a Microsoft fanboy. This is what a company should give its fans. This is why I tell everyone who does not have one, to get a Xbox 360. I want to enjoy this not only alone, but with all my friends around the world. Especially the ones I met here on this very board (It's the reason I keep telling XFox to get one). It's this kind of content the system delivers on. I'm not saying Nintendo and Sony couldn't do this, it's that they don't. Sony ripped the idea with the Warhawk beta, and just like most efforts on the PS3, just feels tacked on.
I love my Xbox 360. I don't care that I'm on my 4th system, it's just that I cannot continue on as a gamer without one. I'll be missing out on too much. Next up is Shadowrun.
Summer gaming season (drought) is starting. This week, Big Brain Academy and Scarface hit the Wii, I would like to try them out and give you a nice quick review on it. But my game of the summer comes out the week later: Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. Damn I can't wait for that. I may love my 360, but damn there ain't much this summer that personally I want, but of course there are games that I want to try until Halo 3 like Bioshock. Hopefully (for myself) that Blue Dragon comes out sooner than later. Wii though, has a decent summer: RE4, Pokemon, Manhunt 2, Battalion Wars 2 Mario Strikers and Metroid Prime 3. Along with the daily updates for Smash Bros for drooling desire to play, Wii's in for a good summer. But of course in July, the E3 replacement show takes place so the drought won't feel like much of a drought with all the news. Oh yea, my PS3.... heh Ninja Gaiden Sigma soon and then Lair in August. Yea....
