Yea it's been a while, but there's been a bunch of reasons why. My keyboard broke so I had no keyboard for a while and using that on-screen keyboard was hell(even though I'm glad it exists). This is a temp until my normal one gets repaired. Also been busy working a ton.
Bought a few games recently, Bust-a-Move Bash(Wii) and Tetris Evolution(360). They're both solid puzzlers. I like the controls in Bash a lot so it's my favorite Bust-a-Move game. Tetris DS still reigns supreme of all trillion versions of Tetris, but Evolution is the best console one since the NES' Tetris 2 or Tetris Attack on the NES and SNES(I believe). Also bought LocoRoco and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for the PSP. neither are holding intrest as of now. I'm in the mood for Halo 2 at the moment. I've been bitchy at home lately cause I was one of the people who was getting a problem downloading it. Tonite though, I was successful finally so I'm waiting for my co-worker so I can snipe his head off in Hang 'em High's remade map named Tombstone.
But Sunday Sunday SUNDAY! The next iteration of my favorite RPG series comes out (even though it was in my hands at work today but thanks to a little thing called LAW, I can't play it) That's right, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are releasing.I was able though to get my stupid special styli (plural for Stylus) and the base for it. Expect to see my friend code on the board sooner or later. Also the DS' Headset comes out then. So in the end, your DS is a VOIP phone with Pokemon as a gateway.
One problem with the game though. The spine is messed up. I'm anal when it cames to boxart and marketing on a game and I get pissed when the spine of the box doesn't coincide with its previous installment(see Baten Kaitos 1&2, Disgaea 1&2 and Phoenix Wright). Also when the spine is plain for no good reason (The GCN games like Melee and Mario Sunshine HAD a reason, just never held up. I mean Disgaea 2 again, Pokemon XD, Final Fantasy III, they coulda used the same logo up front for that one.) Well Pokemon Diamond and Pearl starts a new way to piss me off. They put the logo for the game normal, which is nice on its shiny spine, and it should end there, but they put the name of the game AGAIN RIGHT NEXT TO IT in regular text. So the name is on the spine twice.
Also with Spines, the Wii has a great idea going with the white on ALL Games with their logo the way they want it on it. The GameCube Zelda's (With the exeption of Four Swords Adventures, so I mean OoT, WW, TP and the 4 pack CE) wins the best coinsistant spine design. All same text in same fashion. That proves how it can be done. Call of Duty 2: GotY Edtion and Call of Duty 3: Gold for the 360 is given props too as well as the 5 GBA Pokemon games. Anime series know how a spine and box should be done.
Boxart cover is a big thing for me too. If I made a game, I want that boxart to be the best with a spine that makes sense. Most games do it right. Disgaea and Zelda TP are two of my favorites. But ther's a case where you can't stand the damn art right there on the box. That was common back in the day and people see that, but rarely, it still happens. A more recent example is We Love Katamari. I love the game, but when you have a killer box from the original and give ma a damn house for the sequel(With a spine that doesn't match) and it's a turn off. Blue Dragon better have a better cover too cause the one the proclaim of having isn't very good.
Bad Magazine ads and bad commercials suck too. Sonic and the Secret Rings' commercial is ringing in my head right now. Resident Evil 4's magazine ad was boring IMO.
Ok after my rant on gaming marketing, I feel like grabbing a sniper and blowin a head off in Halo 2. It also makes me forget I'm in the middle of way too many games with a biggie out Sunday. Super Paper Mario, LocoRoco, Gurumin, Izuna and now Pokemon Diamond.
