Hey kids, do you like videogames? Do I have a surprise for you.
Story
In Katamari Damacy, the King of All Cosmos' (your dad) ego gets a little out of control and he destroys the stars in the sky (*In the Japanese version, he is drunk when he does this). So, he decides to get you, the prince, to do all the dirty work by rolling a katamari (sticky ball) around Earth to pick up various objects to put in the sky to compensate for the loss of stars. How the King managed not to destroy our Sun in the process is beyond me.
Gameplay
For each level, you must roll a katamari around Earth. You will be given a goal by being told how big in diameter the clump of various crap has to be in a certain amount of time. I don't think anyone else has tried to do something even remotely related to this. To control the prince, all you use is the analog sticks and L1/R1 triggers; no buttons to press or anything. First you will start out small. Then after your katamari gets to a certain size, you can gradually pick up larger and larger objects, including people, cars, signs, skyscrapers...practically everything can be interacted with.
Graphics
Very cool. Cel-shaded, and living objects that can be picked up look like those little cubic action figures from Japan. So far I haven't encountered any glitches or camera errors.
Sound
While there are no voices used for main characters (The Prince remains mute, while the King speaks through turntable scratches), sound effects are generally good. The real stand-out is the background music, which consists of various Japanese songs.
Final
If you have a PS2, then this will be the best $20 you'll ever spend.
