Sonic Team is not one team to name when it comes to quality. But before their name was tarnished from the last 3 Sonic console games, They did a ton of developer errors in Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast(and some continued on to the GCN version too). Sonic Stadium has a list of errors the game had during its cutscenes.
# At the end of the Day X (at 6pm) sequence the 24-hour timer begins, however later in the government limo (no exact time but some time after 9am) Eggman tells the President he has 24 hours to surrender, but the countdown timer has been going for more that 15 hours, so really he has less than 9 hours left.
# When Sonic battles the BIG FOOT after the city escape level, a sign outside the circular arena says "DO NOT ENTER" and is clearly readable and the right way around. But when the cutscene after the BIG FOOT battle starts and Shadow reveals himself to Sonic, this very sign is reversed when it wasn't in the preceding battle. Also, the cockpit of the fallen BIG FOOT can be seen through and the building is visible through it when you can't see through the cockpit in the preceding battle.
# When the space shuttle in the hero story FMV cutscene is exiting the earth's atmosphere, you can see the space colony ARK from a far off perspective and the eclipse cannon is visibly open as if it just fired. But when the shuttle gets closer to the colony, the eclipse cannon is closed.
# In the hero story cutscene when Sonic is about to be killed in the capsule in the middle of the room, the floor of the capsule is white and featureless. But when the view changes to inside the capsule when Sonic is ejected, the floor of the capsule mysteriously changes and a green chaos drive can be seen in the floor of the capsule.
# When Sonic teleports himself with chaos control to the area where Knuckles is, he emerges from the flash of chaos control with his back facing the floor. When Sonic lands on the floor, he's lying on his stomach. This is weird because there's clearly not enough room from where Sonic teleported to the floor for Sonic to change orientation and lie on his stomach.
# In the first hero story cutscene, Sonic jumps out of the GUN helicopter with his original buckled shoes on his feet. When Sonic jumps onto the wing of the helicopter, his shoes have mysteriously changed into SOAP shoes (This error is only present in the Dreamcast version of Sonic adventure 2).
# When Sonic jumps out of the military helicopter in the first hero story cutscene, there is a pair of handcuffs on his wrist. When the city escape level has started directly after this cutscene, Sonic is no longer wearing handcuffs on one of his wrists.
# In the 'Gathering of the dark' cutscene in the dark story, the Egg walker and green chaos emerald within the eclipse cannon controls vanish and re-appear repeatedly throughout the duration of the scene.
# It is actually possible to drown Sonic and Shadow in the game believe it or not, even though their levels feature no water elements. A glitch in the hero chao garden will allow you to drown Sonic or Shadow if exploited correctly. The weird thing about this? Sonic and Shadow both have a drowning voice clip even though none of their levels feature water to drown them in! Could this point to their levels originally featuring water gameplay elements that were dropped some time in development, or is it just a generic response?
# The cutscenes in both stories directly before green forest (Hero story) and route 210 (Dark story) take place at the same time canonically in the story, yet are subtly different in each story.
# When seen at the end of Tails' driving stage in the hero story, the president's limo doesn't appear to have a large sunroof. But in the next cutscene after this level, the limo does have a large sunroof for Sonic to jump into the limo and Sonic and Tails to jump out of when they get their information on Eggman's whereabouts.
# In some dark side story cutscenes, the hero characters shown often do not wear their level up items even though logic suggests they'd never be able to make it to specific levels the cutscenes are set in or after without them.
# The FMV when Eggman blows the moon in half with the eclipse cannon shows a glaring factual error. The moon is not supposed to have a molten core as it's gravitational pull is far too weak.
# Just who does defeat the egg golem in the dark and hero stories? Both Dr Eggman and Sonic can't do it at the same time because both are not in battle at the same time with it and both lay the final hit on the egg golem.
# Weird one this. In the dark story, Eggman looks at a screen in the cutscene before the cosmic wall stage that shows a map of the whole internal area of the ARK. He looks at it to see where the signal for the fake emerald is coming from, It shows the signals radiating from crazy gadget. Now, Note that the map screen on the level select of SA2 shows crazy gadget to the right side of the colony. Eggman's map shows crazy gadget on the left side of the colony. This is an error.
# When Sonic comments on Eggman in the hero story cutscene before Tails' hidden base stage, the subtitles to his speech show the mispelling "Emperial" instead of "Imperial"
# Sonic can apparently turn his head 180 degrees around in the last story cutscene after the biolizard fight when the biolizard chaos controls itself. When Eggman comes on over the intercom to inform all 3 heroes that the biolizard has attached itself the the ARK, watch Sonic as he turns to look for the source of Eggman's voice.
# In the biolizard fight arena, there are no emeralds on the pedestals around the shrine in the background. They were clearly there in the cutscene before and after the fight. And why does it take the entire length of the biolizard boss battle for both Sonic and Knuckles to just about reach the top of the stairs of the altar in the cutscene after the biolizard is defeated for the first time? Surely the echidna and hedgehog are faster than the time it surely takes to defeat the biolizard to get to the altar and deactivate the chaos emeralds?
# Why would Eggman try to fire the eclipse cannon again if he was within presumed earshot of the sounds of the cannon blowing up, shouldn't he have known that the eclipse cannon would not be able to fire again due to it's destruction? And if the fake emerald was intended to blow up when with the other real chaos emeralds, wouldn't the control panel that Eggman is shown at have been destroyed too?
