I used KaZaA, I wanted photoshop. XFox warned me on AIM, shoulda listened. Luckily I received a device that destroyed the spyware, but I was very upset. Goes to show how stubbornness can kill ;D

Goes to show how stubbornness can kill ;D He means I told him ahead of time (not the bad kind of aim warn, no no). My advice for all: Stay away from Kazaa, Real Player, and Bonzi buddy. As you probably heard, you can't uninstall Bonzi buddy and attempting to try only makes it spread it's popup generators more.

Just look around google like I did. Take a look at these articles I found within the first page of results (I searched for "Realplayer and spyware"). simplythebest.net/info/spyware/realplayer_spyware.htmlwww.weathergraphics.com/tim/trends/real.htmwww.theforumz.com/forumz/showthread/t-39701.htmlIt's no rumor, you can clearly see that they profit by selling all your information online. It's just like phone solicitors except online! As one of the articles states, Realplayer will override your cookie settings and force itself in to report your browser usage (this intrusion is virus-like activity if you ask me) and you can follow along to see for yourself. Luckily it says how to get rid of that spyware. I didn't test it myself but if you're using Realplayer, you should be well aware of what they're doing and should do all you can to stop it.

I only have RealPlayer because the DVD player part of it does not require 3rd party Directshow encoders and decoders to play DVD's on my computer.

Is RealPlayer 8 with the 9 plugin ok?? Hmm, this Bonzi Buddy thing sounds kinda like this plant I read about, I think it was called something like kudzu or something.. (LOL, Kudzu Buddy... )

www.aluminumstudios.com/spyware/Yes, you heard right, SUED. Not once, but also a SECOND time. Choose your programs carefully. But companies like this don't have a good background. They're known for selling your email to spam markets just to make some quick cash. Thanks to Marik emailing me from some stupid Real Arcade game, I've been getting 2 spam emails a day and still growing .

Gator is spyware too. when u get their ads, and u allow Active X, it will download its ads to your PC, and run them from within.

especialy when if you go to some forums (like network45), gator will have an oversized ad that will prevent you from closing it and using the website u got to, and force you to download its spyware so you could access the website. to bypass it, just select to Download it, but when the DL question pops up, hit "Cancel".
