[glow=purple,2,300]I know no one reads my stories here...but at Fan fic account I have some Sonic stories. I dunno where I was planning to go with this but to give Tails a good thirteenth birthday. One chapter. Rather...bad...at least I think so...
---
It was a cold crisp November day as the sun poured out the last rays of its light. Outside most of the tree bore no leaves, for they had already fallen down in tumultuous precipitation of golds, yellows, oranges, reds, and the occasional green. The leaves were piled near a half a foot in the heart of the ancient forest, the Mystic Ruins.
In the Mystic Ruins area, near the rail cart entrance to forest like chao haven that had been abandoned long ago when Chaos had taken the creatures to the chao garden very much elsewhere was a small workshop on a cliff above the ocean that overlooked the ancient crash site of the Egg Carrier. The workshop, while the size of a small hut had a fantastically engineered run way with palm trees, fake of course for they couldn’t grown in the seasonal climate of the ruins, that would flip to reveal neat asphalt that never wore away to launch one of the newest planes built by the anthromorphic fox that literally lived above his shop. Under the cliff the workshop grew from old water powered heavy iron and steel gears to sleek titanium and other futuristic materials. A small jet path could be opened for jets to pass through the tiny waterfall from the nearby lake and lattice worked covered river.
The little fox had discovered this ancient place years ago, along with the ruins in its very heart, built his workshop, and the station and rail way that went through the hard thick granite rock for people of Station Square to come and visit. His friends always did, and right now they had quietly snuck into the fox’s house via a warp from an old stone of power, the green chaos emerald.
Underneath the soil and rock in a large room the fox put away his tools. He took off his grease covered works gloves, and oil covered socks and shoes and rinsed the black oil from his orange fur with a makeshift shower stall near the work area he had built. Warm water and oil ran of his coat, making it sleek and shiny nearly like wet velvet. The stall then used some of the child fox’s technologic break throughs to dry the fur completely.
The child anthro put on a pair of clean gloves, socks and shoes. He turned off the lights, covering his sleek silver project in shadows, locked the door and ran up the stairs. He was going to be late, it was Thanksgiving, he was supposed to be in Station Square by now, he would never make it in time. As he opened the door, all ready to turn on the lights in the room before discovering that in fact they were all ready on. What caught him more off guard was the shout the slightly abused his sensitive ears.
“Surprise!” Was the shout made by his friends.
“Guys, what are you doing here?” The young fox closed the door to the stairs and leaned against it. Then his blue eyes noticed the presents lying disheveled in a corner.
“Well, Tails,” Said a hedgehog anthromorph with blue fur and forest colored eyes, “Since today’s your birthday, and its Thanksgiving as well we decided to celebrate here.”
“Wha...”
A female anthromorphic rabbit that was about two years younger then Tails smiled, closing her brown eyes cheerfully, “Me and Amy made the dinner. We made a special dessert just for you.” A chao with a bright big red bow bobbled up and down in the air flying form its pink wings next to her. The girl had cream and brown fur, she was wearing a bright red dress with a sky blue tie.
“Yeah, Then Sonic and Shadow helped get the food and the presents here with Chaos Control.” Said another female anthromorph, this time a hedgehog, wearing a bright red dress. She had bright pink fur and deep green eyes.
Then Tails noticed the black furred hedgehog anthro with blood red stripes and eyes sitting tiredly in an arm chair in a corner away from everyone else. Held loosely in a gloved hand was the green chaos emerald he had been over using.
“Though Shadow did most of the work,” the blue hedgehog spoke nodding his head towards the black hedgehog, presumably Shadow and the one talking being Sonic.
“Don’t tell us that you forgot,” a red echidna anthro in the corner, he had dark purple eyes. His white gloves were specially made to cover the two large spikes extruding from his knuckles for which he was called.
“Well, I did sort of. I knew it was Thanksgiving but with my current project I completely forgot about my birthday.” Tails rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, the two Tails protruding from his tail bone for which he was aptly nick named flicking slightly.
“Well, I don’t know how someone can forget about their own birthday,” A white bat with a barely modest black suit and white and magenta gloves and boots said in the corner. Her clear turquoise eyes surveyed the kit serenely, “But even if you did forget, happy birthday.” She closed her eyes, showing the light blue eye shadow she wore and then opened them again.
“Thanks, Rouge. And thanks you all. This is my best birthday yet,” Indeed it was, Tails hadn’t celebrated his birthday since he had lost his parents, for he had always been off on an adventure on his birthday, clean forgetting, probably adding to the reason why he had forgotten this year as well.
“Well that’s good.” The rabbit spoke, beaming again at Tails.
“Well now, what do you guys want to do first?” Sonic looked around the group.
“I think Tails should decide.”
“Er...” Tails looked around at the group, “Dinner, I’m hungry.” This was also true, he hadn’t eaten breakfast or lunch, not to save room for the dinner, but instead he had been so busy working he had forgotten. Dinner was perhaps traditional for the anthromorphs, consisting of a lot of salad, chili dogs a lot of chili dogs, plain hot dogs and some biscuits, there was also small amounts of rice and sushi, though no one really ate them.
“Shadow, aren’t you hungry?” Amy turned to look at the black hedgehog, who seemed to have grown roots to the soft chair. Her response was silence.
“He’s probably asleep. When he wakes up he can eat his food.” Sonic stuffed another chili dog into his mouth after finishing the statement.
After all of them being stuffed they decided to wait a while before eating dessert. Although Sonic was still craving a few more chili dogs, “Hey, why don’t you open your presents now?”
Tails nodded, “Sure!”
They all went over to the randomly piled presents. Tails sat on the ground and Sonic passed a present covered in pink to him. It was from Amy, she had given him a tape of music, it was supposed to help him sleep, how had she known he was an insomniac? Sonic passed him a blue packaged present from himself, it was a new set of shoes, more oil resistant, that was good. A neatly wrapped present came from Rouge, it was a pair of diamond cuff links, in case he ever found the need for wearing a tuxedo. An emerald green wrapped package came from Knuckles, a book of fighting techniques that the echidna had come up with unique for Tails’s twin Tails. The last present had come from the only other awake person in the room, it was a recipe card for making several kinds mint goodies.
“Thanks, Cream!” The fox had a rather large sweet tooth for mint candies, so he gave her an extra big grin. Shadow had woken up and walked behind Tails. His air shoes cushioning his foot steps so that he could walk silently and undetected.
“Hn.” Was all the hedgehog had to say for Tails to turn around, jump back in alarm.
“Shadow, you woke up.”
Shadow nodded and held out his hand, which was hiding something. Tails put down the recipes next to him and took the gift from Shadow. It was a small silver rod, that was easily and comfortably held in one’s hand.
“Gee, thanks, Shadow, what is it?”
“Something I manage to take from Ark before it was invaded by GUN, one of Professor’s Gerald’s tools, it changes into any tool at the thought of the holder.”
“Wow, cool!” Tails look ecstatic at the thought of this new tool. This would make his work a lot easier. He grinned up at Shadow, whose only response was to frown and walk back to his chair, “There’s some food waiting for you Shadow, it’s on the table.”
“Hn.” Shadow waited until they were all outside playing some form of childish games, well to him childish, before eating the sushi and rice on the table, it was a taste he had acquired whilst on the Ark, along with eating food with chop sticks.
After playing around for a while outside the rest came back in for desert and they had all agreed to spend the night at Tails’s workshop, working out sleeping arrangements somehow.
Cream and Amy pulled a mint pie and mint chocolate chip ice cream from the kitchen, along with apple crumb pie and French vanilla ice cream. Tails stared at the mint. “Cool! How’d you guys know?”
“Sonic told us.”
“Yeah, you always got mint candies in candy stores, and mint anything if you could, I thought it was a strange obsession.”
“We made it ourselves.” Cream said a little bit shyly.
“Thanks guys, you’re the best.” Tails felt a warmness in his heart grow; this was by far his best birthday yet. He smiled and noticed the chocolate chips carefully arranged on the pie to read the number thirteen.[/glow]
