Right I will try to answer this question.
The Internet is basically aq whole lot of computers that pass
information to eachother. For example when you visit this site
you request from the computer that this site is on some infomation
this information ios then passed to yopur computer. The computer that
the information is sent from it on 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365
days a year or at least it should be, this is
what we call a server.
thats not all their is to websites though, inorder to make a good
website you must first either get a program to make that site with
such as adobe go live or learn to write webpages yourself in a
program such as notepad or nedit i recomend this way because you have
cleaner code and more control also anyone can make a site with a program
but you have more fun and learn more this way. Websites are all writen in
programing languages, not high level ones but programing languages
never the less. Most websites are writen in a language called HTML
this is probably the easiest to learn language but their are other
languages such as XHTML, XML, PHP, Javascript, cgi (the one this
forum is writen in) and many more. these languages are basically
a way of telling your web browser (internet explorer or firefox)
how to present information. Their is a good html tutorial on
the Tails Archive site
xfox.digibase.ca/.
The next thing that you need (After you have made your site) is a host
or in other words server, for your site, you upload stuff either through the page it's self or with an ftp client. you really need a couple of
years practise before you make a decent site.
I hope this helped but I'm more than sure that it didn't, their is so much more to making a site than can be learned in a few days
