I found 2 programs. First is Bit Defender. This is not to be used if you have norton installed cause if you do, your pc will literaly kill itself. You can search for it, but i wont post the link cause i forgot what it was, and i dont think you would use it anyway with such a risk... Second, Spy Sweeper. Spy Sweeper can find the nasty adware that usualy can get around ad aware but thats usualy very rare and also can find trojans and spyware. last i checked i had 2 trojans, 1 being named Dp Trojan. I recommend running this. www.spysweeper.com1:44 in the morning and i start forgetting things...

Theres always the free software (AdAware will eventually ask you to pay up). A great (all-free) spyware-removal tool is SpyBot: Search & Destroy. But to keep spyware from getting on your computer in the first place, use SpywareBlaster, which prevents the stuff from downloading/installing itself in the first place. I have been using spy bot, but ad aware is a little better and it never asked me to pay or anything.

ad aware usualy searches shallowly for adware while spy bot searches much more of the pc.

First a few questions: What is your operating system, Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider), which browser do you use (IE, Firefox, Mozilla, etc...) and is this global or is this limited to just certain servers? With the limited info available, these are the only solutions that I can think of... This might sound really stupid, but did you check to make sure that the cables are set up between the pc & the modem? I've troubleshooted similar things like this, and all it ended up to be was that they didn't plug in the right type of cable (crossover instead of standard) / there was no cable connecting the modem and the PC at all. Try connecting to the website that's designated as your homepage manually. It *might* just be that the website that is your homepage might be down... Next, try to do a cold restart of the machine (shut it down, walk away, return in a few minutes, start it up again). I had that problem before with all sites, and it was my comp's way of saying "You've had me on too long, I'm going to screw around with you and your precious internet" Did a cold restart and that solved it. If the modem isn't built into the PC, try unplugging it and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then plug it back in. It might be linked to a bad / faulty server on the ISP's side Next along the line would be check with your ISP via *gulp* customer support (aka the never ending hold music). Maybe they are under repairs / troubleshooting certain problems, and had to take down their servers... That's all that I can think of ATM, hoped it helped...

Err... you could download firefox. It's free! the link www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ the only thing is you'll have to download a few plugins, but it should go just fine.
