[glow=red,2,300]Damn, is it just me, or does it seem like every time I make a friend online, my parents accuse them of being a serial killer or a rapist? I mean, It's just Ashura! My mom's like "We can't be too sure!" Does this only happen to me?[/glow]

testify man! I mean whenever I talk to a friend and my mom is in the computer room, she always asks pathetic questions like "are they a close friend? do you know them personally?" just idiotic crap like that! I don't know anyone over the age of 20 who knows half as much about Sonic that Knuckles knows, it's just really dumb! parents should let us have our own friends and not even bother!

[glow=red,2,300]Well said, Ashura. I mean, as long as we're not going to meet up with them IRL, why should they care? I'm keeping it online! I just wanted to send Ashura a few bucks to buy the new Megaman game, and my mom said "It could be a stranger who's just using you!" I mean, Ashura's my good friend! She's being a heartless, greedy bastard that keeps to themself! I mean, come on! What injustice![/glow]

yeah! I mean come on! how is a few bucks gunna hurt the senders well being, but that's not the point, they should just let us have our own friends and just leave it at that, how's talking to someone on the internet gunna hurt you!? it won't!!! so they should just leave us alone!

[glow=red,2,300]Hey, Ashura, didn't you say you have to buy things with your OWN money, and that your parents won't give you any? How caring is that? Parents really piss me off. You guys know that commercials, where it's about drugs and smoking, and the kids are like "You wouldn't leave me alone, you kept bugging me, I pushed, you pushed back. I thought you were the worst parents ever... thanks." And my version would go like this at the end: "....... screw you."[/glow]

haha good one, but yeah, when I want something, I have to buy it, yet my mother spoils my little sister, she took her to 4 movies this summer and I went to one by myself with my own money, I never even got asked if I wanted to go, so here's what I have to say to "my overprotevtive" mother... screw you! I just hate a lot of the things she does! she's a bitch

[glow=Blue,2,300]My parents are the same! i have to hide my instant message window, and she wont notice, but everytime she catches me she ask 'Who is that? Do you know them?' im being sufficated, but a good excuse at my age is 'A friend from school' and i get away with talking to soemone i dont know, but the lack of privacy! its killing me! And when I want to get a Comic Book she says i have to clean my room after i get it, geez! its only $2.19! I am amazed that Tomorrow im going to a water Park up at Weirs Beach in NH!
Plus whwn i want a new video game, she sayds 'Put it on your birthday/christmas list' its always one of teh 2! and this Christmas i will only ask for A new Stero (the CD player in mine wont work anymore) a Flame GBASP (i want a red one) and a Disc man! and i may ask for a game or to, but that is it! People say im lucky to have such a nice mom, but that is only when my friends are over, not when they are not here! im constantly yelled at to get offline! but i refuse too! i hope that my mom understands that she is suffercating my a whole lot, but she could never!
I am 13 i want my space![/glow]

Parents that are overprotective act the way they do for quite a few reasons. Here are the possible reasons why....
A. They are worried about you because they hear nothing but bad news about meeting others online
B. They don't trust you, you must act more responsible and gain their trust
C. They still treat you like a little baby
I'm only 15, and I gained my parent's trust. Age doesn't matter, the trust between you and your parents do.

I went to a water park yesterday, and I didn't pay a thing. But getting on topic, if you are old enough, why not get a job? Your parents can't give you money for your entire life, can they?

[glow=red,2,300]Cool, I have many people I can relate to. Tomorrow, I go to school, and you know how annoying the parents can be after that. "HOW DID IT GO!?!" I mean, my mom won't go away until I tell her how my food tasted, if my friends were there, if my classes were good, if I made any friends, if my teachers were nice, if they assigned any work, and come to think of it, my mom acts just like a teenage girl, asking her friend how her first date went, if she kissed her partner, if she messed up, if they're doing it again, etc. etc. I mean, my parents should just stay out of my life. My dad always gets pissed when I lock the door to my room. If I need privacy, I use the lock. He seems to be against them. I can just picture him coming by my house and banging on the door when I'm making love to a girl. [/glow]

good point dude, so many parent's hate that lock, why not just take the door off! why even have a lock?! it's just pointless, purely pointless! and like you said about the school thing Knux, same deal with my mom! like if wanna know what happened so badly, why don't you go to the damn school! and another thing is grades, I got one bad mark on my report card (a C+) and my mom got so pissed all untill I told her "you want the damn A's so bad, you go get them" it's pathetic! I just feel that unless the parent has something important to tell me, they can stay the hell outta my life!

[glow=red,2,300]Hey, you know how when a woman gives birth to a baby, they give you the whole "I brought you into this world, now you need to respect me!" It's not that I don't respect them, I just need privacy. It's kinda like if someone saves your life, and they always want respect from you from there on. I'd say "Look, I'm not going to one thing for my whole life, I'd rather get over it and move on." I mean, my mom is okay, but she really expects too much. I like my dad, he's cool. If only he'd let me look at porn... I mean, my dad's going to buy me a laptop worth $25,000.00 if I can maintain AT LEAST all B's in the first quarter. I just need to work my ass off for one quarter. It's not so bad, right?[/glow]

good points man! I'll be honest, I don't like my mom, she only ever talks to me to yell at me or punish, is that the kinda image you wanna make for yourself? a power hungry bitch? I doubt it, but like you, my dad is cool, he hears both sides of the story first, and rewards good deeds and punishes wrongs, make sense? he also listens, making him the better parent. funny story, I asked my mom for a computer, she said "if I improve my graddes" I got an 85% average (A) how can you improve on that?! it's just saying you're not getting that computer, cept with different wording, it just sucks, a lot of things that my mother does sucks!

[glow=blue,2,300]My mom doesnt understand! i mean last time i went to a movie with my mom, it was because i said 'I have nothing to do i cant go anywhere, a great movie that even YOU want to see is out, why not go ot the movies' adn the next day she and i went to go see Lilo and Stitch (i wanted to see Spirit!) ut that was the last time that the 2 of us actually sis something together! and once before that i was crying on a rainy day, because i was saddened that my bestfriend moved 2 years to that day, so she took me to get ice cream, adn that is all i can remember! She just pisses me off so much!
But my dad.... well hes different! we dotn do stuff together, because he is always too busy, but when he isnt, he is annoying me in a good way! he is so cool! he listens to me, that is something my mom will never do![/glow]

I guess I've got it pritty good, I have 5 year old computer which it basicly all I'm ever going to have. I never get things from my parents apart from food, I'd be lucky if they remember my birthday, well I'll be lucky if I remember my birthday. I don't have a lock on my door, come to think of it I don't even have a door just a slidding pice of wood which keeps falling off.

I couldn't even begin to explain how my life is (gives Kyran a hug). But I can say that parents love to be on someone's back. They will always nag about your day, your grades, where you are, who you're with, how long you'll be there, why you are there in the first place. They don't feel fullfilled until they have kicked you around a bit. The worst one they like to do is tell you to do something while you're already doing it. That's one way to know you're being neglected.

he..he..he. I feel sorry for u all. my parents haven't started naggin me THH. Accually they respect me a lot, though there's no privacy. Can't lock a door without someone thinkin you are feelin down, or tell them to shut up and leave you alone for that matter.

[glow=blue,2,300]Well..... tyhe only reason why they are like that, is becaue they love and care about us, but if they really loved us, they would let us be free! be our selves! dont you think that is what makes us who we are! by being with our friends! but ehy really wont let us! i hate how all my friends say i am so lucky, when they dont even know half the story! i wish it were differnet![/glow]

parents should respect our needs and not just think about themselves! they should realize that we're people too and we want and deserve certain things. if they knew they wouldn't be able to give us what we need, why even have kids? it would stop a lot of misary.

Man..you think you've got it bad. Try living with a 200 mHz computer, what I'm working on now. It isn't bad at all really. My parents are nice to me, but I respect the fact that they aren't the King and Queen of England and can purchase anything at all. And Ashura, maybe you could try cursing at your parents less.
