Ok, previously on my gaming update: Started Pokemon FireRed, Bangai-O is great, Bought Chrono Trigger, Bought Tales of the Abyss, played Phantasy Star Universe's beta on Xbox Live, Disgaea 2 tried to play again, beaten Okami, Wii reserved. Now back to my update:
Pokemon FireRed- St. Anne
Bangai-O- After a lot of fustration, I mean a lot, I beaten all 44 levels on it. Last level was a total ass.
Chrono Trigger- On my shelf
Tales of the Abyss- Sitting on shelf
PSU- Beta's gone, only lasted 5 days. Totally fun, I recommend the Xbox 360 version with a keyboard and controller. Kicks the total hell outta PSO, that's for sure.
Disgaea 2- Still haven't touched it in a while, I really don't like it.
Okami- Shelf
Wii- Nothing really, reserved Red Steel today. I wasn't very excited about it, but it's updates are very positive. Looking real good. That makes 5 games along with Zelda, Far Cry, Excite Truck and WiiSports.
To continue my "How much will next gen cost?" Sony announced their launch lineup.
The Xbox 360. Added another Plug and Play, forgot wireless controllers uses AA's unless you get a Quick Charger or the Plug and Play's.
400 Console
50 Live for 12 months
50 Wireless controller
40 2 Plug and Play for controllers, really who wants AA's?
60 1 game
=$600 not including tax
Wii. Switched memory cards to a gig cause you want the best of the best.
250 Console,
40 Controller (remote part only)
20 seperate nunchuk attachment
60 1GB memory card(40 for 512MB)
50 game
5 AA Batteries for the remote controllers
=$425
Ok here's PS3, it comes with with one SIXAXIS wireless controller, an AC cord, a USB mini-cable, an ethernet cable, and composite cables. No component. For those who dunno, SIXAXIS is the name for the PS3 controller, Like DualShock was the PS1 and DualShock2 was the PS2's. Well the controller doesn't rumble and it's motion sensing. I won't count the PS1/2 USB memory card attachment(it's $15). Fortunally, it's the simplest to list.
600 Console
50 SIXAXIS Controller
50 HDMI Cables
60 game
=$760
What if you had more than one game though?
--------------------2games----3games-----4games---5games
Wii-------------------475--------525----------575--------625
Xbox 360--------------660--------720----------780--------840
PS3------------------820--------880----------940--------1000
That's where the Wii shines, those 10 bucks off each game makes a difference, but the Wii is a very complicated console to buy for. All that is opposite with PS3, expensive, but easy. But why did I do this? Look back at 1999, 2000 and 2001 with the launch of the no longer current gen.
Dreamcast
200+30+30+50=310
GameCube
200+25+25+50=300
PS2
300+25+25+50=400
Xbox
300+30+50=380
Console, controller, memory card and a game, that was all you needed back then. I said it before, I'll say it again, Accessories run next gen. It's no longer as easy(especially for the 360 and Wii). Multiple price points confuse casual and non games (really who needed the $300 360?). And yet Microsoft and Nintendo think they can expand the market with their consoles. Again lemme show you another price chart, this time why the DS is sucessful:
Nintendo DS Lite
130 System +35 game =$165 w/o tax
System and a game. That's all you need. And with the innovative cababilities of the DS along with it, free online gaming and games that really reach nongamers, no kidding it'll be successful.
It's gonna be a hell of a generation. I blog about games cause I really have no life.
