So... like the PS3, the Wii preorders stopped before the even began. I walked into work Friday with a line of like 60 waiting to reserve, and since I work there, I get to cut everyone, walk into the joint before they open and preorder mine before we opened the door. Granted, I was there at 8 am for the hell of it, talking to all the people who were waiting since 11 the previous night. I preordered Zelda, Excite Truck, Sonic(Which isn't launch) and Far Cry last month, to add the console, the classic controller and a 1 GB memory card, my Wii launch is looking bright. Might add on Red Steel.
I beat Okami which made me happy, it was an excellent game. Started Pokemon FireRed and Bangai-O. Won Chrono Trigger online finally! that was a good $70. By the way, speaking of $70, that's how much GameStop charges for a used Disgaea now. Very pricy.
And some good news, I downloaded the Phantasy Star Universe beta exclusively on Xbox Live. And what's fun is that I can't play it! Damn server is too busy to even connect. I guess they didn't expect all the freeloaders with 360's.
Just to bring it up, next gen makes money off assessories. Let's look on what you really pay for 2 players, for the 360 and PS3, to have the best, you need HD included.
The Xbox 360. For 400 you have basically everything but a game. Add a game and controller and Xbox Live for a year to have the staple 360 gaming goodness.
400 Console
50 Live for 12 months
50 Wireless controller
20 Plug and Play for controller
60 1 game
=$580 not including tax
PlayStation 3. This will be difficult because the peripherals don't have a price! But I'll could use the Japanese prices, which might be cheaper than the US pricing. You need HDMI to have the best, which is no longer in the box for either model of the PS3 and it yet to have a price. Not only that, should we count the Memory Card reader for the PS1 and PS2? AND NOT ONLY THAT, We dunno if the controller will have a plug & play device included with the controller. So I can't count it yet, but it will be +$700. Free online though, that's a plus, I'd be a slap in the face to pay an extra whatever to go online.
Wii. Value pack system yes, but its has a ton of peripherals to rely on. This won't count the Classic style controller which will tack on an extra 20 each. Wii does come with WiiSports, but I wont count it. If I did subtract the 50 for the second game, but who won't get Zelda anyway? Also free online, big plus for this system.
250 Console,
40 Controller (remote part only)
20 seprate nunchuk attachment
40 512MB memory card(60 for a gig)
50 game
4 AA Batteries for the remote controllers
=$404 With that list, like I said it varies so it could be between 350 and 450.
In conclusion, accessories are totally more expensive now and you need even more to be happy. Yea you could read this lil paragraph instead of reading my big ol list, but Im bored.
