EDIT: I did not know about the 'The Ultimate Tails Fangame' post when I posted this. The Ultimate SatAM Game Project I have seen many people talking about or wanting a Sonic RPG. So if someone was going to make a Sonic RPG, (which as far as I know no one has), which universe are they going to use? Sonic SatAM is probably the best bet. So thats what I'm going to do, I'm hoping to create the "Ultimate SatAM Game." Main Features: • The ability to create your own character. (Select your name, race, hometown, age, gender so on.) • Have your character interact with the environment and others. (Not really a main feature.) • The ability to save your game and statues. (Not very big I know, but don't you just hate those games that don't let you save.) • Not made in the Game Factory or any third party engine. (So no big signs saying buy Game Factory or anything like that.) • History in game screens. (Don't know who someone is? Just wipe up the history screen and type in who you want to know about.) • In game help screens. (Got stuck? Don't know where to go or what to do? Just type in help and the help screen will appear. By default the help screen will display about the area the users is in.) • Multi paths equal multiple endings. (Have your character become evil and join with the forces with those who want power. Or fight for what is good and try to give the Mobians their planet back.) • Credits. (I hope every SatAM fan out there will have their name in the credits.) Staff Openings: • Primary Plot Writer (The Primary Plot Writers plan what directions the game will go in. The Primary Plot Writer will then pass this information to the Act Writers.) • Secondary Plot Writer (The Secondary Plot Writers plan about side quests. Character development is also planned by the Secondary Plot Writer.) • Act Writer (The Act Writers plans how the selected act will unfold and gives instructions to the Scene Writers.) • Scene Writer (The Scene Writers write about the area in which player's character is in. The Scene Writer will then seek assistances from the Personality Writers and Player Writers to finish the scene.) • Personality Writer (The Personality Writers write how SatAM characters to each other in the game. The Scene Writers should come to the Personality Writers to ask for help when they are having characters interacting with each other.) • Player Writer (The Player Writers might be merged with the Personality Writers. Basically the Player Writers write how the player's character thinks and acts towards the NPCs.) • Design Writer (The Design Writers are the people who design objects and non-official SatAM characters. The Design Writers will also design the players character. • Freelance Writer (Freelance Writers generally will not be asked for help but instead have to ask others if they can help them. This is probably the least demanding job.) • Story Donors (Story Donors are people who allow us to merge their fic/story into the game. The problem with this is that those fic/story don't have the player's character in them.) • ASCII Artist (The size of this game should be kept small so ASCII Art will be used. These artists really make the game look good.) • ASCII Colourer (These staff members colour the ASCII art.) • ASCII Donors (ASCII Donors are people who allow us to use their art in the game. This is probably the way most of the art will be gained.) • BETA Testers (The BETA Testers will look for errors and bugs in ether the code or the story line. If they find any they will then report their findings.) Known Bugs: • When a player is already in the middle of the game and they load a load a different game up then they try to quit the screen will go to the first game which was loaded. To get passed this problem just try to quit a few more times. (The code which is responsible is meant to only work with the help and history screens so the play can easily get back into the game. This problem should be easy to fix.) • The player's character is forgotten when he/she goes to a new place. (This problem should be easy to fix but I needed to have a least two bugs so I could use the “Known Bugs” title.) Character Design This game (which is yet to be given a name) will (and by will I mean already) give you the ability to create your own character. So far the things you can customize are their name, race, gender, hometown, eye colour and fur colour. When choosing your race you will be able to select from a list of preprogrammed races or create your own. (If you create your race incorrectly the game may have errors.) When choosing your home town a list of locations which are known on the Mobius planet will pop up. You can select one of the preprogrammed locations or create your own. Think of the kids. Saved Games So far in the game when you go to save you will be given a password. This is only for the time being. In the future you will be given the option of which to do. Save as a file or be given a password. Basic Game Idea As you might be able to tell character design is going to be a major part of this game. I know of no other Sonic game which has or will have this feature. The game will start with a basic intro telling a quick story of the SatAM universe then it will then advance to the character. The story will start depending on your character. For example if you choose the preset location Bluebrood then the intro will then tell a short history of Bluebrood. (User made locations won't have many details.) After all the history, which we all know, (apart from the player's character's history) the intro will then head to Knothole where most of the characters will be introduced. Most of the code for the game (excluding the title screen) is well underway, apart from the looking around code cause I keep forgetting to put it in. Think of the kids.

can I also be a beta tester too? and there should be a "chaos relm"or something like that. when someone dies they go there abd have to pass a simple challenge to get out, and only if someone selects liquid speicies can they have the chaos relm as there place. That is my idea.

Kyran is it possable to make a chaos 0 looking charicter? The player can create their on race if they want. The preprogramed races are designed by myself and the Design Writers, which I have none of. So if you want a supported character that looks like that you should change from being a BETA Tester to a Design Writer. Come to think of it that isnt really a good idea, I don't think the characters will like a CHAOS 0 looking guy in Knothole. Sounds interesting. Is it going to be a MMORPG or just a standard RPG? For the time being I'm only give that kind of info to staff members. This is going to be a SatAM RPG. If this is finished then I'll start on a Sonic X or Archie one. I now have four staff members: Xen Zertul as a BETA Tester, Morphed Chaos as a BETA Tester and Meta-Knight and Ice god/Ice master as unknowns. Xen Zertul and Morphed Chaos I'll PM you with your account name and password. Read the Character Development part down below. ADDED: Those two bugs I have should before have both been fixed. Known Bugs: • Character's names while being used in a players command have to be preset. (To ability to change characters names were added for more flexibility for the writers. This works fine until the player has to use a command with the character name in it. Example: Tails has become evil and is now known as Whips, this is only an example remember, thats fine, once all the characters learn Tails new name they will start using it. But what happens if that happened on a side quest are you now back in the main plot line? If your player's character need to talk to him the character has to use Whips old name. A way round this is to just preprogrammed Whips and Tails into the scene but that may add bugs and screw the action help screens up. This is a major bug and I have no idea of how to fix it.) • The waiting command crashes the game. (Hopefully I will find out how to fix this problem. If I can't then some cool features I had planned will not go ahead.) Character Development Just for the fun of it I'm going to make the dos and donts of romancing a character. The character I have chosen this time round is Sally. 1.Don't kiss Sally the first time your meet her. She'll either, depending of your characters gender, dislike you or hate you for that. 2.If your character is male its best not to flirt with Sally early in the game when Sonic is around. If you do its possible Sonic may become jealous and force her to choose. In most chases shes not going to choose you. 3.If Sally's in trouble save her before Sonic can. If your characters male she'll gain a lot of respect for you. If your character is female she loss a lot of respect for Sonic. 4.Discredit Sonic as much as you can. Doing this will make Sally loss respect for him. But it will also make Sonic hate you and as a result he will try to discredit you. To solve this problem you must convince Sally that Sonic is a lier. 5.Jealousy is a really powerful weapon. If your characters a guy you can use it to your advantage. If you have manage to gain popularity with the Knothole girls they will sometimes fight over you. If however your character is female you can not use jealousy when trying to get points with Sally. 6.Sometimes characters, for what ever reason, will leave Knothole. If Sally does this use it to your advantage. If she leaves because every one there does not like her, tell her thats its not true and that she should come back. If she leaves because she hates them agree with her. (Sure your both well on your way to becoming evil.) Going with her will gain you major points and even points with others because they'll miss you.

Sounds like the game is gonna take quite a while since its having some of those problems. I played a few ASCII (commonly said as "Askie") games like "Nethack" and such.
So you can flirt with others... this sounds like the game is gonna be VERY fun indeed! ;D
1 way you could have "Chaos 0" type people running around is that when they begin, they start out where morphed chaos said, and start out evil aligned. They will be 'Destroyer' type people, but i do think that there could be too many of them at 1 time... I was thinking their mission is to defeat anyone they see, but then thats a bit... cheap... especialy since many people on the net these days want to play as evil.

there not evil all of the time. all they have to do is kill eggman once as there mission then they become good. what do you think?

ya, thats what i think, but i think their alignment should start out evil, and they become good through doing good missions and raising their reputation throughout the universe

Well what I would do is start in a world in conflict with itself, with the constant wars of good and evil going on every day. The player is stuck in this world, and s/he and s/he only decides if s/he's going to be good or evil, depending on what actions the player does in the game.

Megaman Blasters should be a weapon you can put on. In ASCII format, you gotta type in to attack with that weapon. There should be different levels of the blaster too and some 'unique' weapons and armor which are usualy the best.
(What is satAM? whats it stand for? sorry bout the double post of this text here but i wanna know)

Its going to be opened to the public when its finished. When you start the same you can either be good or undecided. You start off with 20 points to use to build your character: Wisdom, Intelligences, Looks, Charm, Speed, Strength. You also get 20 points to build up your skills: Technology, Leadership, Cultivation, Surveillance, Medicine and Theory. Theory, Wisdom, Intelligences, Speed and Strength are the skills which you should build up with your going to be fighting alot. Looks, Charm and Leadership are the skills need to allow you to have control over other NPCs. Your character has mind of their own. So if you make your character do evil things all the time you can't just make them good. I guess I should go an find someone to host a temp forum. XFox want to help me out by putting up a USGP forum? No? Fine.

Sure ButterflyPenguin. You know about the SatAM world right? Well, I haven't seen the cartoons in ages, but I've been reading up on it. Here's some of my ideas. Not only could the characters live in huts, but tree houses as well. Perfect for a character that likes to climb & wants a home with privacy, but not a good idea for a character that's afraid of heights. Maybe a TechnoloTree (Perhaps their technology could be a little bit more advanced, but not as much as in the Archie comics). It could have a few screens around it, that show what's going on in the forest around them. (They'd have little hidden cameras shaped like acorns) If you pull a specific lever (disguised as a branch), the TechnoloTree's inner trunk doubles as an elevator taking you to the top over-looking the forest, or take you to an underground bunker beneath the tree, where food, water, & ammo (swords? plasma guns?) are stored in case of an attack. Also in the bunker, one of the tree's roots is a telescope. When the TechnoloTree isn't in use, branches with thick leaves could camoflage it. In the SatAM RPG here, me & Auron made up a place called the Healing Stream running through the forest connected to the Healing Falls. It could have a legendary myth behind it. What do you think? (Yay! My 700th post! )

well, i think he means by when you choose what your charactor does. If you keep choosing to kill people, and your choice could be not to and you choose not to, your charactor may disobey and still kill. Kyran, correct me if im wrong for im prolly incorrect.
I think I'm gonna have high Looks, Speed, Strength, and Whatever else i choose. Maybe Medicine and Theory.
I like the thing about the "Healing River" and the legendary myth of it.

But thats a good idea. In the SatAM RPG here, me & Auron made up a place called the Healing Stream running through the forest connected to the Healing Falls. It could have a legendary myth behind it. I remember form the cartoon that there was a nameless stream that made the trees grow. Any one has a already set up board that I could have a USGP temp forum on?

I'm not sure what kinds of places, objects, & characters to make up, because I'm not really sure what you want & what you don't want. Can a player's character be any kind of species of animal? A crossbreed (like a half fox/half hedgehog, for example)? Can a player's character be robotic (fully, like Uncle Chuck, or half way, like Bunnie)?

Time stones... arent those from sonic cd?
Also, should there be some sort of name filter where you have to use a propper name whereas you cant be like sonic5598 or something and people cant make names exactly like others? Just a suggestion....

and swears can't be in the name. and I think that he is looking for a free server I think. I know a place where you can get a 2GB site with your own personal server, BUT everything must be in html. by the way how big is the game so far? and is it 3-d or 2-d?

Thats the original format. Usualy someone would take the game and use that as basic code and add pictures. an example of that would be "Nethack Falcon's Eye". Basicaly, its usualy 2D, but its very fun.
in ASCII games, you usualy type out all your commands, no clicking unless the game was coded in a special way that allows the use of your mouse.
ooo, good idea Morphed Chaos. Also, the chat filter disallows swearing, and if we learn a way people bypass the filter, we can report it.
The size usualy of ASCII games are fairly small, maybe topping at a max of 10 megabytes.

I guess I might as well give you a little more info. The game is going to be 2D. The game is nameless at this time. At this time I'm codeing for offline use. (I'm working really hard on the save game code. Damn save game code.)

Nethack is a cool game that you can look at and see what you can find. try www.nethack.orgProblem is, its practicaly impossible what everything there is cause everything is just a bunch of symbols. A dark brown z represents a jackal and a d represents a dog... You can also add some tiny pictures to the game so its easier to know whats going on *Grin*

I've got the forum up. Goto www.futsaladvance.com/USGP.html and do what it tells you. With in about a day you'll be able to log into the USGP forum and for BETA Testers be able to download the text side of the game.
