With totally custom graphics, this un-named fangame by me will mark my hopefully big debut into the Sonic fangame world. This game uses a static engine that includes all the basic Sonic moves, but it also has some new stuff like loops, and grinds. Although the gameplay will be very good, this game is going to have a very complex story line, and very detailed levels from a toxic waste dump, to a city sky scraper, to a boss you'll fight while grinding long rails. Heres a link to an image of some of the sprites, and a Tails pic done by me. I'll post some in-game screens soon. www.silenthillforum.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/normal_Game.JPG

That's really good. I'm impressed by the original sprites you've made. And the levels look alot more real than anything I've ever seen. I can't wait to try it out

I like the game pic they look really cool but you just need to do about three things 1) Make Tails look sharper 2)Make cars tires smaller 3) try to make the grass look more like grass thats about it and i look forward to your game .

Sadly i try to view the other pics and it said that Tripod sucked instead so Reki do you think you can get your files hosted at t35.com because they allow direct linking and if you say it is going to be the best then i know it is not a lie and i bet it is going to be great too i look forward to it ^_^ . Drag & Drop the links into the address bar. Or you can copy and paste. But as long as the link is clicked from a non-tripod site, it's going to do that.

You've told me about this before... and the fact that it is all custom is very impressive. Tell me when you finish it!

More added. Finished an aeroplane stage, and two more boss battles (bosses are done with static movement and have simple AI). I'll post screens later, but let me say if anyone here is dissapointed that Tails hasn't had his own video game since 1995, well, you're in luck as I'm really aiming high on this project. When I say the Ultimate Tails Fangame, I sure as hell mean it Normally, I'd send copies of a demo, but I'm currently having problems making a stand alone application (says I'm missing some extention). I'll keep y'all posted though.

Just a little status update... Game Engine - 100% Character Spriting - 90% Level Graphics - 75% Levels - 70% Cutscenes - 40% Bosses - 45% Storyline - 80% Save System - 0% (need help with the INIplus object) I finished a demo. Anyone who'd like to test it please contact me on AIM. I CANNOT send the file through Email as it crashes with my dialup connection (I'll be fixing that soon though). I'll only be able to send it through AIM. One last note - I included XFox as a character in the game

It has to make save files using INI files? That has many limitations and they're too easy to read. I'm not sure what the limitations of MMF are but there must be some option to add your own encoding or control over how you read and write.

As one gamemaker to another, I'm impressed. Not many people try to start off with a static engine. (I wish i could draw that well). But if you need help with the INI file call me on AOL/AIM (bluehog4u) or YIM (bluehog4u). I know a way to make it so that is next to impossible to crack.

Very good.
Do you have an idea of system requirements and/or engineering of bug fixes?

Um, (if i interpret you question correctly) System requirements are at least 256 Color (16 bit at the minimum for high color) RAM-no idea CPU-no idea Glitch checking-Run the game through in every possible and impossible way. Or send to me

USE. THE. REGISTRY. Much easier to program. Much harder to edit. Much easier for the user when they update. Meh. And less user friendly. I don't agree at all with the idea that these game making programs are capable of doing anything. Even the simplest games take forever to load and can't have that annoying required dll file appended into the main program. In all programs of these I've seen, the sound is bad (due to buggy midi support with looping), the controls are horrible (can you say "too much shift in XP causes 'sticky keys' popups?"), and the options in the file menu and others aren't helpful at all. And the built in ads such as the icon, and the game maker name being posted throughout the program is annoying. The perfect game would have to be started perfectly. That would mean working with a language that all systems can recognize (Not every PC has the Windows Registry, nor do so many XP users have admin privilages to allow programs to use it). C or C++ would be ideal. You can compile it and port it into Windows as well as other popular operating systems like Linux. Gameboy Advance games are compiled from C and it's possible to make your own homemade games for them that way. Even with a bad start though, the game can always outgrow and break free from the restrictions and inabilities of game makers.

Even with a bad start though, the game can always outgrow and break free from the restrictions and inabilities of game makers. The trouble is not everyone knows programming. But as for game makeing tools (TGF, MMF, ect.) having limitations, I strive to push the limitations even closer to nonexistant. And I am slowly but surely accomplishing that goal. And as for the shift, it can be easily set to enter or something else. You'll see when I make Showdown 2. Red eye-keep it up, the game is great

I sure wish I could see this game. I've tried clicking all of your links and copy-and-pasting them and nothing is having any positive outcome. Do you have any suggestions for me as to how to fix this problem? P.S. What program are you using to make this game and how much did you pay for it? Because, I'm going into game design as a carrier and I need some programs to practice on before I go to collage. Also, I need a good 3D design program so I can start making the characters, environments, vehicles, and weapons for a game that me and another friend have been working on for about a year and a half (maybe more). So far we have come up with enough storyline, characters, and plot twists to easily make a minimum of 24 games and we are coming up with new additions almost every day. At this point in the project we are further developing our existing characters and their back-stories as well as narrowing down the story-line to specific events. Once we get that done, I'm going to type up the whole thing and proof-read and edit it myself and then let the other 3 people proof-read and edit it. Once that is finished, I'll get it copyrighted. Hopefully, if I can find a good 3D program, I will make 3D models of all characters, vehicles, mechs, worlds, and individual area layouts. I also need a program that makes techno music. [Sorry about the rambling ] [(For more information about this project, please visit my "Requested help for a future game" thread in the "Project Board")]
