You may have noticed that my last topic, about astrology, was pretty deep stuff. Well, this topic is deep too, so read on. NOTE: If you don't like to think, don't read on.... -------------------------- In your opinion, what is the meaning of life? Why do you think we are here? Why do we think and act the way we do? Is everything we see real? What happens to you when you die, and what do you think it is like to be dead? I'd also like to know, what is the meaning of nothing? If nothing is the absence of something, then how can we define something? Is there anything beyond the universe? Is there a whole other species somewhere that think and act similar to us? Can dreams come true? Why do cars drive on the parkway and park on the driveway? Okay, here is my opinion on some of this... To me, I'm the only person on Earth whom is real, everyone else isn't........ Wait, I didn't mean that...... its just hard to say. I just wanna kno, are u guys really u? I know I'm me, but to me........ u guys are just.......guys. Um.......Y'kno what? Forget all I just said........... (as far as my opinion goes)

Well, heres my thoughts.
Every person, you, me, all of us, live two lives. One, is in the "public" world. In it, we all control a body, and this world is shared by the 6 billion other inhabitants of the world. Our body is mearly a temporary "house" for our mind. In this world, we can do whatever we want with our body, interact with others, treat it well and excercise, treat it badly, and umm... whatever else.
The other world is a personal world, which is that in out mind. Every person has one. Not really much can be said about this realm, as every person is isolated to their own. In this world, decisions are made that often effect the real world. More can be said about this, but I don't want to keep typing.
When you die, your body that you are pretty much "renting" as I'll put it, is destroyed. Therefore, you exist through the world in your mind. Survivors of near death experiences (like surgery) have told stories of how they wantered around the spot where they temporaily died. They said they saw their body lying there, as well as everything that was going on. Perhaps this is bothe the mental world and the "public" world fusing, perhaps not. Thats somthing I still don't know.
One type of inanity is when teh line seperating the two worlds becomes thin. Delusions and hallucinations can occur, and drive one nuts.
The game series Silent Hill deals a lot with this topic if anyones interested.

Man that is deep... and it sounds accurate to me. Hmm... this topic only got one response. Well, besides us two, no one here likes to think or use their brain.

Well, according to nature we are here to reproduce and die. This is so the best of what we have is passed on while the weakest stuff is left behind. Over the years human intelligence has resulted in the belief that we have some deeper purpose than this, due to the very fact that death is not a sweet prospect. Do not look to religion for answers here as religion has changed just as much as society has, therefore it is corrupted. All you need to note is what is left of us when we die, only that can be our purpose, and this purpose is the next generation.
In terms of nature this would be correct, but humans have the capacity to think deeply about things. This has resulted in humans being able to decide for themselves what their purpose in life is, which is far more exciting. Now, society and history have become a purpose, so have families and deep emotional relationships, hobbies and the pursuit of knowledge. These are our self created purposes. What you choose to believe is up to you but I will never have my beliefs made for me, so I will certainly not look at religions for help. Look at the evidence around you and have a think if you really care, and then you will find your own purpose in life.

You ask unanswerable questions that dont really matter, dont dwell over them. It makes no difference whether or not we are alone in the universe, or how we originally got here. If you really want such questions answered good luck! hehe
There is more to life than having fun, that is just ignorant. You have many things to do with your life and leave to the future. What you give to other people is the most important thing. Why does there need to be more to life than this? If you have someone in ur life who really cares about you and you have made of your life what you wanted, then you have received the best life can offer.
However, life for many people seems very bleak and miserable, and my heart goes out to them, but if you want something from your life you must obtain it yourself. If life is treating you bad and you ever feel depressed, you think youve got it bad? Well look to the graveyards, the poor bleeders in there would love your bloody life!!

If you hate when people ask these type of questions, it is because you are afraid to think. Too lazy? I hope not.... Alone, I think life has no meaning..... we are the ones that give it meaning. We are the ones that mka elife what it is. The stars in the sky don't affect your fate in any way, you control your own destiny. You control your own life. Life will have meaning, when you find it. Live and Learn.......

The unknown always is. Nobody knows what death is because we have only been outsiders. Yes it is scary though, wont deny that! lol, but also fascinating.

The reason why I don't really fear death, is because its immiment. Unlike some issues in life, you can do stuff to avoid them or make them easier. Death though, is like the most definite thing there is in life. Yeah, I'm a little nervous, but to be honest, I'd be more excited as you're entering the next phase of "life" by leaving this world to uhhh... wherever

I try not to think about it really. I must agree that death will happen, I just do not want to think I have no control over that.

How many ppl in here believe that the religion you believe in plays a major role in your life (and death)? Some believe those who die lost their lives for certain reasons, such as God's master plan. Any opinions on this? Do you agree with any of those theories, or do you belive that when you die, it is simply because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or because of natural causes? I can't say I'm afraid of death, I'm just not ready for it.... and I may never be ready for it.

Beliefs play an important part in the lives of most of the people on earth. They help you make decisions in terms of morality and they help you assign a purpose to your own life. Religions are a culture and a belief shared by many people together, this increases their influence and value (it feels good to now so many people feel the same way as you). What people theorise is up to them, none of it is true and none of it is false, you are free to believe what you want to nowadays (provided it doesnt conflict with other people). What I dont like is when other people force their beliefs onto someone else or actually get angry when someone does not think the same way.

Yeah I run in to that alot. Just because I do not beleive does not mean you have right to cut me down. Someone asked me once "If you do not beleive, then what is death to you?" My answer (even though it sounds corny, or ripped from a movie, it is what I beleive) "The next adventure for me." "And what is this Adventure going to be?" they ask next. "If I knew, then it wouldn't be an adventure." So there you go.
