I've read the manga so I figured I'd watch the anime. I must say, Fruits Basket is funny when it's animated.
Oh yeah, if you don't what it's about, I'll give you a very brief synopsis. This girl, Tohru Honda, is an orphan due to the fact that her mom died a year ago. She briefly lives with her grandfather until he decides to remodel the house... so she ends up in a tent. One day, she stumbles across the house of Shigure Sohma. Yuki, and then Kyo, live there. What Tohru finds out is that the Sohma family is cursed. They are cursed by the twelve animals of the chinese zodiac and transform into their respective animals when they are hugged by someone of the opposite gender or when they stress their bodies out.
The anime pretty much follows the story, but it's just way funnier to see it than to read it. Like when Kagura comes into the the picture and when Tohru meets the okami of the Sohma onsen. It's something people need to watch.

Fruits Basket! n___n Seen the entire series, haven't quite finished the manga. =___=;; But it's very, very cute and it's one of those things that make you think about life. ... Well, it made -me- think about life, but I'm an odd one, so... Yeah... And Ritsu spazzing was absolutely hilarious in the anime. Not so much in the manga, but still amusing. I think I rewatched that ten times before finally watching the rest of the episode.

They are trying to continue the anime to finish along with the manga, but it keeps on getting shot down. We're hoping for it to go through, but it's not likely.

This manga.... took me by surprise, and now im hooked. But the hook came in various steps beyond picking up the book out of boredom. D:
Next step was of course to encounter Kyo sympathizers when im a Yuki sympathizer and you got yourself a heated debate ending in an inch away from facing off like Kyo and Yuki.
Third step, Tohru Honda frustrates me in more ways than its work safe to admit. (Thats a multi-layered sentence but one better not deciphered, trust me lol) add Tohru, Kisa and Kagura's cuteness and then im a fanboy ^^;;
The final step was learning everyones past, witnessing the plotting and just getting generally hooked on where the story is going.
A sly one this manga artist is >.> Picked it up out of boredom (I read everything else in Books-a-Million) and it exceeded any expectations I had.

well it is one of the most popular shojo mangas around for a reason.
usually there's at least one character you can relate to in there. But Kagura... being cute? Sure, on the outside she's cute. I'd feel sorry for any guy with a girlfriend like her.
Takaya sensei is one of my most favorite shojo manga-ka's around. There's her and Maki Murakami, but let's not get into that one.

The reason you feel sorry for any boyfriend of hers is one of the reasons I find her attractive ^^ dating gets old after awhile, routines become dusty, and shes a breath of fresh air. And 'sides, you see the breakdown and talk she had with Kyo? I won't spoil anything if you haven't, but that proves how strong of character she is. ^^ Shes not exactly just flinging around boyfriends for the reason of trying to get them to obey her (though it may appear that way)

yes well, unfortunately, trying to cleanse herself of her own... well i don't think beating Kyo bloody was actually gonna help that. I admit that I admired her for what she said to him in that last book but still... if she ever gets another boyfriend... I wonder if he'll be visiting the hospital a lot.

but still... if she ever gets another boyfriend... I wonder if he'll be visiting the hospital a lot. Now now, I found the "couple" quite a pair because of her Seek and Destroy mode and Kyos panic. ^^ But whos to say that if her boyfriend didnt panic, hide, or not show up to see her, she'd go all berserker glomp mode? I'd like to think i'm the type who thinks about his partner while shes busy and is there waiting, but if I should happen to 'not be there' for when she needs me the most, atleast i'll know shes strong of heart and will come to ME. (with a warm and loving sleeper hold, im sure >.>; Kagura rules for the fact she doesn't clam up and get moody (and it wouldn't be much of a story if she did, I think. Maybe. Think only main characters can do that.)
