Impressive At this rate, we should start two seperate threads: a Finished Manga Thread - Discussing after thoughts and whatnot after completing a manga series (might contain spoilers) and a Currently Reading Thread - To discuss the highlights and whatnot thus far in the series. I'd do it, but i'm terribly laz, uh, busy. Yeah, busy; that's it. >.> ....Anyone else? <.< *cough*

Well, I've read the three Clamp Paranormal Investigators. Then I've read the two Full Metal Alchemist. I just recently bought the Gravitation novel. ^_^ that one's my favorite. Heh heh, I don't why. I'm just interested in shonen-ai.

Picked up the first volume of Gravitation today. I got about 10 more pages and ill be ready for volume 2. Think i'll read this title all the way through.
I'll be honest in saying my motivation in picking up this title was fueled by having heard too many hypocrites. Guys are all, 'ugh its yaoi,' and females are all 'eww, its yuri.' Even the, 'its not ok for guys to be into dating games, but its ok for me to be into yaoi.'
This is a dark subject when it comes to otaku of different sexes usually. Views held differ from person to person, but when with a group it tends to appear it varies gender to gender.
The moment I picked this title off the shelf, the two guys reading next to me gave me some space. We all know why, and i'm not totally without a clue as to what sort of manga this particular title was. I knew the genre, but nothing of the contents. Well, I was about to put an end to that.
I didn't pick it up to analyze what I hated from what I liked, I didn't analyze it to get 'firepower' for when I had to defend myself in the yuri/shoujo-ai vs yaoi/shonen-ai subject. I picked it up because boths sides just dont want to meet the other halfway, not realizing both the pot and the kettle are black. and I grow tired of this childishness. Is there a certain age you hafta hit before you can carry yourself and your views in a mature manner? My eyes and ears are far from virgin. This mind is pure if you think grey is a clean slate.
A rainbow laser of focused 'gayness' did not shoot out when I opened the book, leaving me wondering what it would be like to become more 'close' with my friends. Sure, when I got to the part where the main characters began making out and one "arrived early" there was some uncomfortability. Ok, there was much uncomfortability. But I refused to turn the page, and just forced staring at the 2-page image. It became relatively painless after awhile. I can now maturely handle the sight of two males yearning for each others touch and affection.
Both genre have a lot of characteristics in common (no, im not refering to the sexuality bits). To those who think theres a difference, theres not. The only difference is, each genre takes on a different perspective due to the dominant genders taking place in the story. In simple words, bisexuals are bisexuals. The characters' personalities comfortably fit their preferences. This isn't 'nasty.' Its thurough and detailed character writing. Theres a plot to unfold and relative interests to cradle.
I also think my numerous experience with one and narrow view on the other sorta handicaps my right to say what i'm saying right now, so I plan to keep reading more of the like. I seen a few that seem to be feudal era heavy, so I think ill give those a go.
Please don't jump to conclusions on some of my wording, as it may be multi-layered (does not just mean one thing). Its easy to think, oh this means this, but stop to consider theres always many perspectives on the same object. My 11 years of artistry and thirst for knowledge has taught me this lesson. So any questions and comments i'll answer as best I can.

More of a shounen ai then a yaoi, but yeah i like the anime.Havent read much of the manga though admittedly. oh yea about that thing were people "givin ya Space" for reading Gravitation in public.. i know the feeling , i get some looks everytime i buy a princess tutu dvd , or Sailor moon product in public, They all find it odd that a 21 year old male would enjoy it....(even though most of them probably have watched and enjoyed the latter on tv at some time in thier lives. ) So ya that sucks, But then again i dont care what some random in a store thinks anyway. In short,Enjoy Gravitation, Dont let the People in the store bother ya, and if they do too much, im me and ill send you a link to the manga scanlations

Thanks for the offer dood, but i'm already d/ling tons of other manga >.> Plus its more convienant if I read Gravitation in public for multiple reasons. Kill time imbetween class or pickin up my sister from work and to get some more space as I read. lol Wonder what will happen if I wink at a guy LoL
Everyone who is into anime has at some time, seen Sailor Moon. and Dragonball Z. Sailor Moon was everywhere at one time, like DBZ is now.
I still find Princess Tutu weird there too, buddy. Its way left field. an im not sure the animation is worth the public embaressment... (ill get back to you on that one.)
But Iris, I never said those guys near ever bothered me. In fact, if anything, as I typed that, I was more addressing it to them than anyone in specific. Here.... ill put my knife skillz to work and cut away the fat to show ya the proof...
I show their response only. It was undenyable proof of what was running through their heads. "Oh, hes gay.... i'm not gay, better let him know. Don't want him near me."
Right after describing their reaction, I state my opinion. I find their behavior childish. You know me man, not a drop of gayness in my body. I like women so much, I play female characters, collect artwork of them, hell, look at my sig and avatar. This was my way of saying (it has other means though), im not gay, and apparently i'm more strong of character for going into the areas that these hypocritical people fear to tread.
This is now me being sarcastic to those two weak of mind, using my dry and sarcastic sense of humor that everyone knows me for ^^
There you have it. They didn't bug me in the least. Actually, they gave me room to do whatever I wanted. When they passed each other, they didn't care if they came close. They pass by me and they were practically hugging the shelf like its the edge of a cliff. lol good times.

Assumptions on my part, my bad.. ive seen the same situation so many times i thought it was one of THOSE ... y'know what i mean.. anyway my bad on that part... Btw, whats wrong with TUTU? >_< public embarrasment doesnt exist for me i guess, because most people i see when im out in the area i live in I dont ever expect or care to see again. But you know the drill , lol if im outside, its pretty much always either to work, or to the mall to buy some DVDs and or games,(and definately not in that order ) and thats it. heh

i like princess tutu.
and gravitation is so cool! still my number 1 manga. But I don't understand why some people have problems with shonen ai. i mean come on, guys think it's cool that girls can have relationships with each other but they freak out when it comes to boys (at least that's what happened with alot of guys i know)
honestly, i'm not bothered by any of it. it's just like Tatsuha said "You didn't fall in love my bro cause he's a guy, you fell in love with him because he's just bro."
Ah, Flawd, next time, if any guys edge away from you because of what you're reading, you should go over to them and be like, "Don't you think this story is wonderful?" And give them this really big smile. ^_^ it'd be something i'd do.
i wonder if they even knew it was shonen-ai though. you think maybe they started to move away just because it was shojo?

( When I can throw my college reputation to the wind.) As for why they backed away, that could be, but I seriously doubt it. lol they looked up to see what I was going for and one went through the trouble of getting up, scooching over and sitting back down xD Iris, I havent played 3 yet ^^;; I couldn't begin to know where even to start on "extras." In the game, did that young female knight spend a night by Sir Thomas while hes working hard to make everyone in the castle feel comfortable and accept each other? 'sides, you're forgetting the greatest reason why the manga is a must. ^^ You get to see all characters in anime form, interacting, frustration, blushes and all. Yuber's expressions have given me new respect and can see why characters thought him as "scary." Something game's icon/sprite just couldn't seem to do. Not ripping on the games. Saying this is clearly a combo meal here. Sure you could eat cereal alone.... but add some milk and it tastes different/better, no?

I've been attached to two manga as of late.
School Rumble and Bleach. School Rumble is a school romance comedy, and Bleach is like a cross between Yu Yu Hakusho and a samurai anime.
While I started out with stronger interest in Bleach at first, School Rumble got so good, by Volume 7 (where i'm at now) I found myself wishing I was reading more School Rumble while reading Bleach (I recently finished volume 21).
Any other School Rumble and/or Bleach fans in here? I'm curious to see whose your favorite couple is in School Rumble.

i now have the first volume of Gravitation EX... and i was reading it going... "i know everyone was crazy, but now they are totally out of it! what happened to all of them?!" I must say, Seguchi-san is the one who gave me nightmare for weeks. brrr... *shivers* that nurse outfit... so not cool
i'm up to date on fruits basket which i am still loving. up to date on megtaokyo. i also have a new series. anima. i think it's cute. a bunch of kids that don't fit in the world because of their animal powers. but they are all adorable. You just want to cuddle Cooro but I like Senri with his few lines of dialogue. I'm also still working on collecting the manga novels. like right now i'm waiting to finish. .hack//Another Birth. the more i read it... the more i want to play it. i've read the gravitation novels.... the second one started to make me think that Murakami-san is feeling bolder about what she draws. i need to work on more volumes of hana kimi and tsubasa. later on, i'll put up an updated list of my manga.
