Time for a new poll. I vote for Mega Man: Network Transmission, that game takes the cake. I barely got past the first level, and that was with many tries. I couldn't even do the second. Second is R-Type II. That...wow.

It's no wonder why it was never released here, due to the difficulty.

What's hard? Space invaders is hard. I can barely sometimes pass the first level but die on the second one.

Can we add Izuna to the list of hard games to beat? I still haven't beaten the fourth dungeon T_T
And it took forever to beat the first dungeon.....

Haha, yeah, Izuna deserves to be on this list. Too bad I haven't played it yet.... This is going to be a weird entry, but there's a freeware game called Dungeon Crawl which should be on this list. I shouldn't have to explain what kind of game it is. XD Anyway, the thing about this game is the fact that there's no save games. Yeah, it saves your progress when you exit, but you can't save at any time, and there are no save points. This probably won't be that much of a problem, but this game utilizes the infamous Real Character Death. If you die, that's it. You don't get respawned at the start of the level, or even at the start of a dungeon, you're gone. No way to bring your character back. All those hours you've played have just been wasted. The game has really annoying ways of sneaking up on you, too. Sometimes, you'll run into a few enemies who will proceed to kick your ass, and you're screwed if you run out of healing items, which there are preciously few of. The main way of regaining health is resting, and you can only do that if there are no enemies nearby. Also, you've got random enemy spawning, so say that you go down stairs to the next level, and proceed to get beaten up by guys who pretty much camped near the stairs up. You think "Yeah, I'll go upstairs to rest, then go back down!" You go up, and then there are more stair-campers who kill you! Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent dungeon crawler, probably one of the best I've ever played, but it can be SO ANNOYING!

Ugh... that would really frustrate me. To get so far in a game and die so you have to restart everything. I would hate that. But it sounds like something I would try to play at least once.

Another: Ninja Gaiden Black/Ninja Gaiden II. SO much fun, but those Black Spider Ninjas as so freaking annoying! Their explosive shurikens make the game so much harder than it can otherwise be.

Rondo of Swords was freaking ridiculous! I bought it cause Izuna and Shino were unlockable, but I never got there. Around the 10th mission, they are enemies everywhere, you only have 6 characters and reinforcements come.
