I knew that the deal with Sammy Video Game productions was bad, as soon as I heard of it.... read this article that i found...
SEGA Arcades Only!!! > Date Added: 2003-12-11 13:24:51
Sammy President urges SEGA to concentrate on arcade titles and move away from the consumer market…
In an exclusive interview with Bloomberg, Sammy President Hajime Satomi revealed the worst of SEGA fans fears, by urging the Japanese games developer to concentrate on the arcade market.
Having seen their financial year grow beyond all expectations thanks to the strong demand of their arcade titles, it’s clear to see why the recommendation has come from Satomi-san, however to have no SEGA in the consumer market would be worse then the day they pulled out of hardware development.
More worrying is recent comments made by Satomi, that suggest if SEGA doesn’t accept his decisions, he’ll simply increase Sammy’s stake in SEGA to a position where they’re forced to do what the Pachinko manufacturer says.
Certainly it’s a move considered to promote Sammy’s ‘Atomiswave’ arcade units, based around the Dreamcast and NAOMI hardware and utilising JAMMA compatible boards. It’s claimed that these units are extremely cheap to produce, with Satomi-san claiming “It's low cost enough that even a single play at 10 yen a game can turn a profit. We can sell it in third-world countries as well".
We’ll have more news soon.

It's not like there's anything I can do, but if I had to make a choice, I'd rather all the stock be bought by Nintendo before Sammy (atleast 51% between Sega and Nintendo). If Sammy takes over, it could be the end of Tails!

I think Nintendo should save Sonic by buying it out before Sammy screws Sega up

Sammy is a weak company any first party company like Nintendo would just take it out But if Sega refuses to create Arcade games, then Sammy will dig deeper into Sega,a nd soon they will be forced to.

Sega wont refuse that though, they like arcade games, just as long they still have their third party games too

Yea, Sammy are absolute morons. I mean, they're interested in the company... and that's ok. But why arcades? They're inconvienent compared to home consoles!!! I sure hope something fatal happens to Sammy so they give up on Sega and leave them alone.

Heh, Sega would be better off if Nintendo purchased shares in their company. I mean, Nintendo does have good realtionships with Sega, Namco, Capcom, and Konami... so them buying share in Sega is understandable. I just hope Sammy lays off, and that Microsoft and EA games don't get involved.

Well, all we need now is for another company that we trust to buy even more stock in SEGA than Sammy, so that company could run SEGA for the good of the fans.

CRAP! The Preisdent of WOW Entertainment (Now WOW Works) has left recently. Now, this makes 2 Presidents of Video Game makers gone.... I got the info from this article.
Nakagawa Leaves SEGA > Date Added: 2003-12-18 13:38:20
Second resignation suggests mass exodus from the acclaimed Japanese producer/developer…
Famitsu has today reported that acclaimed videogame director, Rikiya Nakagawa President SEGA WOW, has left his position in charge of the recently merged Overworks and WOW Entertainment development studios.
Nakagawa-san joined SEGA back in 1983, rising up the ranks and becoming the Head of the AM1 studio in 1993. Nakagawa-san has been responsible for a number of the popular SEGA franchises particularly in the arcades, including ‘The House of the Dead’ series and ‘Sega Bass Fishing’ just to mention a few.
The announcement comes after recent stock acquisition by Sammy Entertainment, who’ve made suggestions that big changes will be made in both the way SEGA are run and the structure within. Inside sources claim thata number of high-profile SEGA chiefs are unhappy with the situation, with Nakagawa-san resignation coming shortly after Tetsuya Mizuguchi left his post as the head of U-GA.
Although exact details on the resignation were not given, it’s certainly a worrying sign for SEGA that they’re losing their most important asset - the creative geniuses behind their acclaimed titles, let’s just hope it doesn’t start a trend.
We’ll have more information soon.

There is something that can be done. But....... it would take literally the entire fandom of Sega to make a difference. It would be impossible to gather them onto one website. There is over 600,000! Most of them come from the PSO series.

[glow=purple,2,300]What would need to happen is Sammy lose so much money that it has to sell its stock from SEGA to save its own worthless hide. but then again, it probably wouldn't therefore it dies and he he he SEGA is released from bondage. YAY! but if any of you have an idea on how to do that lets hear it[/glow]

There has to be something we, the fanppl can do. You can do just about anything if you have enough nerve. But, if even the worst happens, and Sega is closed down, and Nintendo doesnt buy Sonic, all of us would still be fans of Sonic, and stuff. Besides, people can make good Sonic games! Take Bluehog for example. BUT I STILL WANT Sammy To LEAVE SEGA ALONE!!!!!!!

Sega needs to make another console. I noticed a lack of caring for Sonic. ;)Seriously, I hope Sega doesn't screw up. But fi they go under, maybe Nintendo could buy the rights to Sonic. Nintendo buy the rights to the Sonic name? That would not happen, it would be ironic and unorthodox. And they would probably make a lot of unnecessary changes to it as well.
