Well I thought this game was going to be really great. I mean the graphics are wonderful and the story line looks good, though I am kind of tired that the main character is a thief that wields a sword who is after the princess. Okay so I am not sure about the princess part, but I have a feeling that is what is going to happen. The Pirate guy is sweet, so far he is my guy.
But the main problem I have with this game from the demo is the fighting system. Just not to my liking. I'd rather just do the actual attacking then watch my guy sit there and get beat up. And it is even harder when the game doesn't pause. So the fighting system alone may force me not to buy the game.

Plays to a large degree like FFXI , only not online. Thats what the demo seemed like to me.. could be kew if they made use of other controller ports... (i hope this isnt the beginning of a trend square to start though.... i like console games to play like console games and mmorpg's to play like mmorpg's. )i will probably get it, and most likely go through many love/hate bouts with it as i have FFXI .I have now quit and rejoined that game 5 times since Nov 2003... i hate it, yet i sometimes enjoy it... It makes no sense to me either.. im just not gonna stop paying for the account this time though, Because no doubt 6 months later after quitting, i will wish to play again... I guess i just lack the willpower to stop. Oh well atleast i wont be spending a half hour to an hour looking for a group everyday on FF12 . ><

Square-Enix has to have something up their sleeve with this game. There has to be something that FFXII has going for it cause after buying Dragon Quest VIII, the first thing I did was go to the demo. ANd I did not like it because of that battle system. It works, but it ain't Final Fantasy.

It works, but it ain't Final Fantasy. Classic, no. Current, yes. It uses similar controls to FFXI, a game im getting ready to quit. I was able to beat a lot in that game, but it truly never ends; not that that is a bad thing. The story is nothing to laugh at, in fact, i'm impressed it can get that good. I've slain gods, Kings, fellow players ( much smarter than the average prey if you catch my drift ), THE dragons, avatars, and the main expansion pack's Greatest Boss--The Shadowlord. FFXI introduces FF gamers to new things not experienced as hard by the FFXI population: Futility, Despair, "looking for work," good teamwork, bad teamwork, stronger sense of mortality, racism, prejudice, obligation, pride*, reputation, the list goes on...Its hard adjusting from classic style to uptodate, but its not so bad after awhile. and whos to say they wont have alternative/customizable controller options? *Sure, everyone has accomplished that thing they think is pride in the past FFs, but you won't know pride until you have fought Tiamat for five hours straight, falling, rising, falling, rising.... widdling him down, watching your friends backs, rushing in where they fall and vice versa. Firing off timed consecutive shots and persevering despite the lack of signs its effective and the flakk he shoots your way as one would swat a mosquitoe. The despair you feel as undead and violent wildlife come in waves to destroy you meanwhile. The panic you feel as he nearly wipes you all out with a well aimed whip of his tail... You realize something; you're mere humans against a monster thats been around longer than some of the locations themselves. His HP is so large, you might as all well be trying to hack down a mountain itself. and upon that victory won by a narrow margin: everyone dead tired, but morale skyrocketing.... celebrating, talkin crap to it's corpse, savoring the kote he gives you... the kote of THE Tiamat. Not anyone takes him down. Not everyone takes him down. Few can even glimpse him without noticing that isn't a hill, thats his giant red ass, and you're at the top of his menu at the moment. Yessir, that game gives you something not many solo or online player games can. Pride, reputation, and items you can ONLY get by taking down the most vicious challenges. Cant buy it, cant sell it, cant trade for it. Scenario: We are in Sky (Asgard) fighting the chinese gods, at the time, Suzaku. Our dragoon somehow got it's attention and thought he survived the god's most vicious spell scot free. "Ha! I lived! Your feeble spell didn't kill me! I LIVED!" <everyone> "uh dood.... you died... it just hasnt loaded on your screen I guess." Suzaku casts Flare. xxx takes 1272 points of damage. (He only had 1057HP) xxx falls to level 73. "Aww" <everyone> "lol"

I was able to beat a lot in that game, but it truly never ends; not that that is a bad thing. It's an MMO, what do you expect?, plus the Xbox 360 version and the Treasures of Alt Uhrgan expansion are coming to put that much more in the game. So you think you'll quit soon, but then you can't!

There came a point that I realized the friends I made were my greatest asset and i'd be leaving them behind. God gear, titles, artifact sets of fallen ancestors... these will dissapear when I go. " What you do for yourself alone dies along with you, what you do for others is eternal and forever remains eternal." I'm not quite sure if thats how the quote goes, but you catch my drift The comraderie formed between people on there... sometimes its so strong outsiders can't understand it. In a way, its as if we really are a military unit and death is final. Makes it hard to leave... not to actually leave, but to cut ties that meaningful.
