Yes, the news I hope that wouldn't have come. When the phone rang today, and it went to the answering machine, as soon as I heard it was Gamestop, I knew it was bad news.
They said that The Legend of Zelda; Twilight Princess has become a 2006 release, most likely in the second quarter. It was announced today during the press confrence.
So looks like this is the one Zelda game I will beat before my brother.

"Strange as it may seem, but it's 1:00AM and we've just received an email from Perrin Kaplan, VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs over at Nintendo of America, officially stating that Zelda: Twilight Princess will be delayed until sometime after March 31, 2006. The email reads:
'After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess. Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller.'
The rest of the email reminds us that Nintendo isn't completely screwed by this huge delay. Namely, you still have Nintendo DS wi-fi to look forward to, as well as the opportunity to own yet another GBA (think Micro)! On top of that, they're putting "a lot of marketing muscle behind Battalion Wars, Mario Superstar Baseball, Fire Emblem and Super Mario Strikers."
Whoa. Not only is Zelda going to miss Christmas, it's also going to miss a huge chunk of spring 2006. As the shock sets in, we're reeling to find the chink in its armor, especially after such fantastic showings so far at E3 2005, and various print and online publications. There was literally no indication the game was in any form of development trouble -- in fact, just recently, there have even been discussion with Nintendo on coverage plans leading up to the game's impending release.
We'll talk to Nintendo after a short, troubled nap, and report back with any further developments.
The reasons why it has been delayed has not been said, but this is a hard blow to all of the fans who have been patient for the new Zelda game. The caller said that the release was most likely after March 2006. That's another 4 months for us to wait."

It's another six months. That makes it almost 3 years of waiting for me. Man, actually how fast time has flown by waiting for this game.
But remember! It's to improve the game itself! To make it better for us!

Indeed...I guess in theory, the longer we wait, the better it'll be when we do get it. I've heard it's actually going to have more dungeons than any other Zelda game so far, like 11 or so. That's definitely good news. Plus, more dungeons=less annoying Heart Pieces to collect. ;D

This is true, it's all over the place and people are pissed. They said that it won't come sooner than the beginning of Nintendo's next fiscal year, which starts in April. If anything Nintendo will sacrifice this fiscal year to be even more successful in the next with this and the Revolution.
I really think it'll hurt sales. The holiday is where it's at, it was the biggest holiday game as well as the biggest gun against the Xbox 360. I really think the 360 will do better due to this. This will be too late in the console race just like Final Fantasy XII. I really think it'll come out side by side with the Revolution cause maybe Mario won't be in it. Unfortunally I wanted to say Nintendo had the ace in the hole and be the biggest thing this holiday, but now Sony and Microsoft again will stay on top. I guess if anything is good is that the 70 hours that that game has now will just go up. I realy wished that Nintendo would instead release a Master Quest for it instead. This thing better have a good preorder bonus too.

Man, someones being pessimistic. Truthfully... I just don't care. I'm sick of the console wars, I'm sick of it all. All I care about are games that i like for the systems that my family has.
Yes this does miss the Holiday season but don't forget, Easter is on the 16th of April. If the game comes out on Tuesday the 4th, it will be in time for Easter.
Marik, don't you think Nintendo has considered all of this? I'm speaking for other Zelda fans that I have talked to. I'll buy the game, I don't care when the hell it comes out though. As long as it's Zelda and it isn't rushed. Nintendo wants to make the game better for us.
One thing I don't understand Marik, why are you so worried about the console war? I can't understand. Personally... my interest in games is slowing fading, because of all of this hype that this board has presented.

Cause Nintendo had nothing at holiday 2003 and since then, third party support dropped to nothing. We're seeing it again. They instead want to fight Sony with a double shot with Zelda and the Revolution. It'll be like Super Mario 128, supposed to be GCN, says it'll be GCN and be Revolution. When stuff gets delayed, it loses interest. And what happens if something happens to me until then and I never get to play it, or you or anyone. People who were ill and wanted Halo 2 back in 03 never got to play it due to delays. I still remembered that story and that's what I first thought when the Zelda game got delayed, I had a very bad vibe.

WHEN DID THE CONSOLE WAR MATTER SO MUCH?! IT DOESN'T NEED TO MATTER! THEY'RE JUST GAMES MEANT FOR PEOPLE TO ENJOY! GAMING COMPANIES AREN'T MEANT TO FIGHT LIKE THIS! SURE THE ZELDA GAME HAS BEEN DELAYED, BUT YOU KNOW, IT WAS TO IMPROVE THE GAMING EXPERIENCE. I AM REALLY UPSET WITH THIS DELAY AS WELL! THAT MEANS MY BROTHER WILL NEVER GET TO PLAY IT UNTIL HE COMES HOME FROM THE NAVY, AND HE IS AN EVEN BIGGER ZELDA FAN THEN I AM!! THIS DELAY HAS HURT ME AS IN A BIG WAY PERSONALLY!
Marik, don't you think that maybe the consumers aren't supposed to be involved with what the companies are going through. >_> No offence, but what you've been saying about this has been pissing me off, most likely because it's my pissy time of month.

In the end, it's business. Ever since Microsoft entered this, it has been nothing but a big fight. And it gives all those anti Nintendo bastards another thing to BS with me!

I shouldnt be concerned with the business. I am a gamer, and thats all that matters to me. All I care about is games. So thats why I buy the consoles that I want, because they have the games that I like. I would never buy a XBox because I don't like the games, but I would always buy a Nintendo because it has the games I like. A Playstation, I did not ask for, it was a wish for my brother, but I found games that I love on it.
So you see. I don't care about this stuff. As long as I get to play the games I like.

NEWS! The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has one more reason of delay. While yes they prob are adding new content and making the game longer, we now know another reason of the delay. The GameVCube mag in England announced that Twilight Princess will use the functionality of the Revolution's controller when inserted into the Revo. IT IS STILL A GAMECUBE GAME, DON'T WORRY!

I would believe that if I
A) Trusted GameVCube B) Could find any other source on that.
EDIT: I found out that a British magazine also published an article about this, but I still can't find anything official.

It would be neat if they made the game extra "forward compatible." With ideas like this, it makes me wonder if some later Nintendo GBA gmes have hidden touch screen easter eggs. In Zelda: Oracle of Ages / Seasons, there was always one house in the towns that would always be locked. But when played on a GBA, they're unlocked, giving you access to the GBA Nature and GBA Time rings depending on which game is played.

Hm, I was reading EGM, and they had "2006 A Year in Preview" And Twilight Princess was under the summer part for it's release date.
=P If the game came out in the week of July 24th... I wouldn't mind! My mom would just go to the mall, pick it up, and wrap it for me!

It's ok. I've been waiting for so damn long, eight months seems so easy to wait for now. Plus, I'll have plenty of stuff to keep me busy.
Sense the first announcement, my brother and I have been tracking this game, when we got the call about it being delayed until 2006, my brother gave up on tracking.... because he is going to be in the Navy. But I have all of the time in the world to wait. I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon.
Plus, I love Zelda so much. I can't give up on it. So that's why I can wait!

Ok new on Zelda's release, thought using this was appropriate. Zelda for Wii is releasing November 19th and the GameCube version is December 11th. Link is a lefty in the GCN version, but is right handed in the Wii version.
