Ok now that the game's out, I'm gonna give it it's usual review!
I went to countless sites looking at reviews and my extreme hype was knocked out by negative reviews, one after another. I got wicked dissapointed hearing what they said, also saying that they're Starfox fans. Well I got the game, and those people dunno what they're saying. If anyone has played Star Wars Battlefront for the PS2, XBox, and PC, they will be right at home in this game, it's alot alike.
This game is wicked fun! Now like alot of campain games like this, there's difficulty settings, Bronze, Silver and Gold. I played the Bronze and all I know is that the Bronze was like Starfox 64's difficulty, so I know I'm in for more on the highter difficulties.
Now this game is alot alike from Starfox 64, but not in the same time. There isn't as much linear levels in this game, There's alot of all-range mode levels, and it's fun. especially now you can go back and forth between the Arwing, Landmaster and on foot. The reviewers said it was weak being on ground, the engine didn't work, well the engine did work, but the thing is that the guns too too alike (except the Sniper and the Homing Rocket Launcher). But with more guns and better difference between it, it'll work out.
The controls where OK, there's 3 varieties, but what is different with the controls didn't help some things. The thing that ate me was the Y Button is to jump and the X for zooming with the Sniper was really killing me. Personally if the on-foot part was first person, it'll be cooler and more immersive. Other than that, it was fine. The Arwing's controls were alot like Starfox 64. The Landmaster's controls I thought were great. They improved the Landmaster. With vehicles I had problems was that in Starfox 64, the R and Z(With the GCN its replaces with L) buttons, hold was lean and hit twice was barrel roll, I loved that, but Assault's is L being Barrel Roll with the Control Stick facing Left ot Right and R was brake. The Brake was convientant but in return the Barrel Roll was screwed up when going right.
The graphics were great, reviwers were complaining about that too, but its fine! The said it wasn't good as Adventures (wow they complained about that game non-stop and now there telling us the good on it?!), but they have to know, Adventures wasmade by Rare, Assault is Namco's, what are you expecting, and it's not like they're bad! The voices were all changed, why though, Starfox Adventure's voicework was perfect! You get used to it though. The character's look great (With exeption with Fox without the headgear, and Krystal not being half naked anymore, *sigh* at least she has a tight bodysuit...)
The game was short in terms of story, but that's Starfox for you. This game like in the past, is based on replay value, which this game will do for you with the higher difficulties. It'll keep you're intrest going for so long. But like Starfox 64, you'll come to it once or twice a year and have a little fun, like I did with Starfox 64 RIGHT BEFORE PLAYING THIS.
Next thing is Story. BEST STORY IN STARFOX HISTORY. The Story was great, it wasn't straight-forward, there was alot of 'stop what you're doing and help them' sort of deals. It's cool cause it extends the storyline. Now I can't really say anything more with details on story, thats for you to experience.
In conclusion, If you're a Starfox fan, you have to get this game. If you like vechiluar combat, you'll love this game. If you're a furry fan, this could be for you. If you're not any of those, then it's common sense not to get it. I will say this. The StarFox series has SO much potential due to this game in the future generations. If Nintendo tries hard enough, This series can rival big shooters like Halo and Perfect Dark, or rival Mario and Zelda as big time Nintendo Icon. People can doubt this game all they want, BUT they all know (or should) know that this series can get major potential now (...if Nintendo now single-handedly made the game again, and put alot of effort into it).
