www.cybercrash.be/xboxvsps2h.htmlListen to this......... Xbox can't do Nurbs and the PS2 can.....what does doing NURBS mean? Those who don't know already Nurbs is a technic used in developing high quality graphics with very litte memory....you'll need a calculating monster of a machine. To crunch the numbers though and PS2 is that monster......I don't know why Sony has kept it a secret but I'm glad that they have told us about it. Nurbs can't be done on the Xbox because it only has one gpu.....mind you that Xbox can produce more poly's than PS2 and T&L but with NURBS "if developers use it" games that are done on PS2 can look exactly alike or even better than Xbox. Both X-Box and PS2 are fixed to handle 3D polygon models and textures. Granted the X-Box has a rare max of 125,000,000 Polys per second over PS2s 77,000,000 Polys per second. The PS2's Emotion Engine can handle a Tool with a NURBS program. The EE's Vector Unit 1 will transform the 65 million Poly transformations to (I'm guessing here) 10 Million NURBs. Actually it might go lower than that. Perhaps 9 Million NURBs. As you might notice the count has fell down pretty low. But it's okay, becuase NURBs need not use many Spheres as with a polygon to create a great visual. NURB stands for Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline. It is a way to represent 3D objects as a math function. NURBs use a set of control vertices in arranged in a geometry matrix (a surfaces control hull). This hull acts as a skeleton of sorts, and is used to control the shape of the surface; a good way to make curved surfaces using polygons. Another popular way to make curved surfaces is Bezier splines, but because they affect the shape of the model directly on the surface rather than through a hull, sometimes creases show

I have a GameCube, and i think XBox sucks. Also did you see how Microsoft treats their japanese employees during lay offs? They kick them out without going back to their desks or to say goodbye to fellow workers, they get a police escort right out the building. that's low. And Japan hates them for that.

I have done much study into this and have found that Xbox is the most powerful (But not the funest) Gamecube the 2nd most powerful and PS2 the 3rd most prowerful. I'll explane later.

Um, I hate to break it to you...... but you are wrong. Sure, alot of us like PS2 more..... but in reality the xbox is much more powerful. PS2 has slower processors and its graphics are noticeably inferior to the Xbox's and GCN's. I used to hate Microsoft..... but the real enemy is SONY!!! They brag and brag and brag........... doesn't that anger you? They say that they don't copy, yet the PSP will have connectivity (they copy Nintendo) and the PS2 will soon allow you to talk through a microphone thingy online (sounds like Microsoft's idea).

Thats true, but i hate both, im loyal to Nintendo. Because the ps2 was released in 2000 one year earlier than xbox and GCN, that the ps2 is in first place, also its the reason the system is slow and weaker than its competiters. In the next generation of consoles, Xbox 2 will the most powerful cause its not gonna be released until a year later than nintendo and sony. but their sales will be poorer because it has to deal with a year worth of weak sales from a old system. Also they still have to deal with the lack of an asian market. Plus who'll know if sony or nintendo releases something better than halo? then microsoft will be screwed

I'm loyal to Nintendo too. Nintendo is an outstanding company and has revolutionized the gaming world. But lately, some gamers treat Nintendo like trash. And the media (magazines, newspapers, etc) isn't helping! It is sad that some gamers actually think Nintendo might go bancrupt. LOL! For god's sake, they invented the best-selling console ever, the Game Boy.

I know! Nintendo ain't losing money, they're making profits.Microsoft is losing $100 per XBox sold, due to its price cuts. They didnt expect that too. People dont know how good Nintendo games are. Really its harder to get all 120 stars in Mario Sunshine then Mario 64, and WindWaker has the best Zelda storyline, and Metriod Prime is great! Wait til Nintendo's next system.

I just wish they would stop making console just leave us with computers. Lets face it, computers were always there for us. They never die. You can play console games on them. And you can plug controllers into them. Saves us having to buy new consoles every two or three years.

Yeah but something more powewrful will come out and now we need to buy a whole new PC! it'll be more expensive. Plus Nintendo isn't a computer company, its a video game only company, they'll never do that. Nintendo does have problems now, but that's because of their stupid new president, Satoru Iwata. Bring back Hiroshi Yamauchi!

I don't agree at all. That idea is terrible. It doesn't matter what quality your PC is..... it will still crash every once in a while. And I don't care for online play, so a seperate video game console is a better idea. It would be easier to bring a game console with you whereever you go. By the way, I just thought I'd post something I found in an issue of Nintendo Power. Kinda humorous....... and much of it is factual information!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Top 10 Reasons GCN beats the pants off PS2 and Xbox!
10. The handle. Okay, it's a little goofy, but imagine trying to take an Xbox with you to a friend's house or on vacation. You would need an industrial crane and a parking permit.
9. It only plays games. That's right. Anyone who tells you that playing DVDs on a game console is a benefit has never had someone monopolize the machine for hours playing Meg Ryan movies while the rental game you have to return in three hours gathers dust.
8. It's more powerful than PS2. PS2 has slower processors and its graphics are noticeably inferior to the GCN's. Plus, GCN's loading times are lightning fast. Sorry - there's nothing very funny about that.
7. Gone platinum. The Platinum GCN is a work of art, shiny and sophisticated. PS2 and Xbox look like every other piece of electronics hardware created in the last 20 years, and the dust really shows up on those black castings.
6. Controller design. The PS2 Controller has too many buttons, and the Xbox Controller was designed for a giant or an octopus. Ah, but the GCN Controller is elegant and practical - an extension of the human spirit ; an epiphany in plastic ; the ultimate interface between mind, body and technology. Truly unique and truly amazing.
5. Experience. Nintendo has consistantly produced the highest quality video games for more than two decades dating back to Donkey Kong. You can bet that Nintendo will continue to do so in the future. Twenty years ago, Sony was making Betamax tape machines and Microsoft hadn't even come up with Windows. What will they be doing tomorrow?
4. The incredible freedom of the WaveBird Controller. You can even play from the bathroom. Let freedom ring!
3. Game Boy Player. More than a hundred million people have Game Boys, and we suspect that most of them own a game or two. With the Game Boy Player, all those millions of deserving gamers will be able to play their games on Nintendo GameCube as well as on their Game Boys.
2. Connectivity. Sony and Microsoft can't do it because they don't have Game Boy. They have robotic dogs and word processors. Let's face it, they're not really game companies. But Nintendo does only games, which is why Nintendo innovates ways to play - linking consoles, swiping cards, visiting villages filled with animals, and sailing the high seas in a talking boat.
1. Exclusivity. The GCN offers The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, Star Fox Adventures, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Metroid Prime 2, Star Wars: Rouge Squadron III: Rebel Strike, Pikmin II, Resident Evil 4, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Phantasy Star Online Episode 3: CARD Revolution, Viewtiful Joe, Dead Phoenix, and Project Number 03. (That's 20 exclusive reasons why GCN reigns supreme.) Try naming 20 exclusive hit PS2 titles. As for Xbox, you can count the number of exclusive hit titles for it on one finger.

I can understand why people hate microsoft,::cough::Windows ME::cough:: but as far as consoles go im not loyal to any particular console, i buy a console for whatever games it has slated for release on it.I dont know if this makes sense but....i wouldnt have gotten to play shenmue 2 if not for its xbox release,And lets face it PS2 hogs the majority of rpgs just as its predecessor did, and i had a gamecube for the re-release of pso , and am re-buying one again to get tales of symphonia upon its release. All 3 systems have at least one great game thats exclusive to itself. Although until shenmue 3 , my xbox's primary use is my default dvd player.... heh

Microsoft looks like it might take 2nd place soon taking Nintendo to 3rd. When the next consoles are out PS3 will be my bet of most powerful, basically the PS2 was a crappy system for stats, but Sony lucked out with it. The PS3 will bake Sony's Blue Laser disks(BD-ROM) Its has twice the memory of DVD's, and there's a not a next-generation chip but they upgraded that making a next-next generation chip! And XBox 2 isn't looking good, They're cutting the hard drive in it and they're not using the video chip thats in the first one, they're using ATi chips(the GCN has that). So Nintendo and Microsoft will use the same chip prob. And Nintendo and Sony confirmed that their systems are backwards compatible(GCN, and PS1,PS2 playable).
And as always, Nintendo won't say anything til the E3 before release.

It's good to know that Nintendo's new system will be backward's compatible. That must mean they're sticking to the mini-cd idea. Nintendo has the longest history for backwards compatibility dating back to the Gameboy. But the PS2 (despite it's junky hardware) already has a huge audience and game library. But if they want the PS3 to take off, they're going to have to drop the PS2 prices like they did with the PS1. I wonder if the PS3 will launch first just like they did with the PS2. Was that how they got so far ahead?

The PS2 was released a year before the other 2 thats why it's in first, Nintendo stated that they ain't gonna let that happen again, and Nintendo's next console may or may not be gigadisks but will be able to play them cause these disks are horrible, they can'y hold any memory, WindWaker was cut cause of it.

The new Nintendo system is called the "Revolution" but they´ll stick with the GCN until one year after they release Revolution, wich may be compatible with GCN. I got this piece of data from Club Nintendo.

Did anyone actually listen to KnucklesRulz? Even though the X-Box has a more powerful processor, the technology in the ps2 allows it to equal X-Box in many respects. The ONLY thing X-box has going for it is a graphics card; THAT is why X-Box CAN have extremely impressive visuals. The NGC? Better than PS2??? Hahahaha! The thing has low visual mem., and a processor that actually runs slower than the PS2's! It's graphics are NOT superior to ps2's. I don't want to take sides, but I say PS2 is better than X-Box technically. If you want me to admit something, PS2, although it can handle awesome graphics, it lags quite a bit. PRogramming a PS2 game is hard. Once programmers start using the Emotion Engine to its full capacity, the NGC will begin to look even more of a kiddies toy.
OK, OK, I apologise. We're all just fighting over our fave consoles. Yeah, NGC's cool. X-Box IS pretty powerful. But I'll always stand by Sony and the PS.

There arent many good games going for the PS2 anymore... I just got Armored Core: Nexus, and the only talking is the computer, and theres like... no story line!
Also, it keeps slowing down on me with all the explosions, and the graphics are made to look more like its shiny, not detailed. Sadly, i dont like the PS2 anymores...
the Gamecube seems to run things very smooth, and the Xbox can play the greatest games ever.
