Sega announced that Bioware, makers of Baldur's Gate on PC, Mass Effect on the 360 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox and PC, is making a Sonic RPG for the Nintendo DS. Not much is known other than it being story driven and will be out in 2008.

This game's in good hands.
It's like Nintendo and Square with Mario RPG, just with Sonic. This has to happen more often with games. A totally different developer (A popular one) developing a version of a popular franchise.
Plus anything beats the garbage that Sonic Team is shoving in our faces.

I'm actually excited about this. These guys made Fable and Neverwinter Nights, which I absolutely loved, so hopefully this should be good. I just hope they keep it simple, and don't pull a Final Fantasy VI and have 10+ playable characters, most of which will never appear in another Sonic game, ever.
But, I'm optimistic. As long as they don't have too many random characters, have a somewhat-good story, and keep the whole point of Sonic intact, it should be good. Hopefully.
