From IGN: SEGA has announced its bringing Sonic Rush Adventure - a follow-up to 2005's Sonic Rush - to DS later this year, including new elements such as 3D vehicle sections and boss battles that span both screens.
This latest Sonic game sees the blue hedgehog taking to the high-seas and fending off a ruthless bands of pirates, led by the not particularly evil-sounding Captain Whiskers, in a search for valuable treasure.
Alongside the standard run-very-fast platforming action we've come to expect from Sonic titles, Rush Adventure also sees Sonic hopping into the driver's seat of several different water-based vehicles, including a submarine, hovercraft and water bike. What's more, as well as gathering rings while sailing along, Sonic must perform tricks, torch pirate boats and engage in fierce ship-to-ship battles.
Levels continue the pirate theme, so Sonic must run through an ominous ghost ship, pirate villages and a vast underwater cave while bouncing on the heads of robots, skeleton warriors, pterodactyls and a robotic triceratops.
Alongside the game's single-player mode, SEGA is also promising multiplayer action via DS Download Play and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, enabling players to compete in races and mission-based battles.
Sonic Rush Adventure is being developed by SEGA Studios and is scheduled for release this Autumn.
Sounds good, but we will have to wait and see I guess.

...What?
Sega, ditch the vehicles, ditch the characters that make no sense and appear for only one game, ditch the random-ass storylines, and get back to basics. Good God, I miss the Genesis games.
I just hope they don't keep the "bottomless pit syndrome" gameplay that plagued the original Rush. That made the game really annoying, especially in Altitude Limit.

Also like normal Sonic Team fashion, another character is announced cause we need more. She is unnamed as of now. Finally a raccoon though.

I was actually considering getting a DS for that game since I assumed it'd just be Sonic and Tails and they wouldn't be able to screw up the Rush engine, 'glad' to see they still know how to ruin everything. And I thought we weren't going to see Blaze again, it's annoying having her equal to Sonic in the handheld games now as Shadow is in the console ones.

There hasn't been a Sonic and Tails game in a long time. It's always been since Sonic....2 (for the most part) where Sonic shared the spotlight with someone instead of doing it how he always should have. Solo. Secret Riongs showed everyone that Sonic can easily do it himself.
Blaze is sharing this cause since Sonic on the 360, there has been questions that need to be answered with her. In the first Rush though, I was suprised to see Tails and Cream starring in it also. Not playable, but still, we might see them again.

Some people have been mentioning that this image may be a hoax as the person who got it said it was on Sega Europe's site for a moment then replaced, yet the new one has totally different font and other different features(like Blaze in different quality) than this one yet was made within minutes. I also was at the site about 10 minutes after it was annouced there and it was the current one, though that could easily have been earlier.
There have been other Sonic and Tails games besides Sonic 2, like the Sonic and Tails series on Game Gear and Sonic World in Sonic Jam plus the tonnes of art featuring mainly Sonic and Tails; recent interviews have always been saying the games were going back to their roots so this could have been an example of that(may still be, providing the image is a hoax). I guess I could make it a lot larger if Knuckles was mentioned too, which is absolutely fine and better than the recent crapfests. I can't see how they expect to keep a fanbase if they totally change everything each game to attract a surge of kids for a quick cash-in who won't stick with the series.
And I thought Blaze wasn't supposed to be seen again for awhile/ever after Sonic 360. Even if it did raise questions, it's so pathetic barely anyone would care.
