OK, I remember saying that this could be a great game... well I was wrong.
This game takes Kirby's Air Ride and add a lot of things to make it complicated. Well at first it's not all bad you start to get going decently, thinking positive, but in later levels, they make it so hard that it takes 20 tries to beat, and by then you get a headache. I feel like I'm missing something, I keep looking back at the manual to see if there is more things to do(no help), but there isn't, this game desperately needs a tutorial cause this game is too confusing to just pick up and play. If you are gonna have a multiplayer party, make sure they know how to play well, cause beginners have no chance in hell. The level designer is most to blame. Sonic Team should seriously fire all level designers cause with Shadow and this, Sonic Team is continuing to kill off Sonic. I think I'm in the last level in the Heroes campaign and the last level have like 3 U -Turns that are extremely difficult. When computer characters fall off the sides cause these U Turns are too difficult to maneuver, than you have a problem. Bumping into walls and falling into pits sometimes(I mean all the time) is a problem too.
In the game, you need air to brake and boost and you drain it quickly. You need to refill it by hitting item boxes, going to pit stops which drain time, or preform tricks. The tricks are at least a bit simple, use the control stick while in 'trick mode', which is a fancy term for in the air. It says danger when low and when you're out, your board is useless and you start running until you get more, and by then I'd say just restart.
Graphics once again suck, but I wasn't betting on it to be any better than Shadow. They also added cartoony looks to the characters, which can or cannot be good. Game play is easy to understand(only control stick, A, B(X does the same as B), and L & R, but it's difficult to execute. Again, I think I'm missing something cause I see computer characters doing things I didn't know I can do.
Once again I can say why Mario's slower game play will beat Sonic's fast paced game play due to pure control. Mario Kart isn't as fast as Riders, but as we can see with Sonic's racing history, the tortoise beats the hare once more. After the disappointments and total lack of quality that Sonic games has brung to the gaming industry as of late, it's hard for fans to stay continued.
...Now you guys can yell at me, but think of this, if they actually put more time into these games, they can actually be good. Sonic Adventure was a game that they took their time on and it was pretty damn good. I've seen totally bias Shadow reviews by fans(that's why most fan reviews suck) that give Shadow a 9.4, where they like the franchise than the game play and quality the score. I'll take a random bad game like The Bouncer for the PS2, see it's an original game thats bad so it'll never see another light of day, but if it's Sonic, it must get a 9 or else the Sonic community is pissed(Full Metal Alchemist fans know that can relate what I'm saying too).
I'm really pissed right now at that level so give me a lil bit to get throught it, I might be giving it too much now, but there are problems.
UPDATE: IGN gave this a 6.2, and I give it that too. They also made some great points too. This game is neither an F-Zero type racer nor a snowboarding title(like SSX) and it tries to be both and doesn't accomplish much. Plus here's the thing, Sega's internal studio AM2 made F-Zero GX, which is pretty good and does great in terms of speed, why didn't Sonic Team use them or the F-Zero engine?
Also you can unlock skate items, which are shoes like Shadow's as your vehicle and seeing Cream maneuver like Shadow is just priceless.

Ok... so there are a few good things about it. But still, they need to be careful with what they're doing. I think... when making this game... they should have focused more on trying something like an SSX game. Or maybe they shouldn't have made it too hard by making you fall off the track and everything. I don't know. Maybe they tried putting this together way too quick. I think they should have slowed down just a bit and thought this through more.
But that's my opinion based on your review. I really can't say much until I get it.

Ok next on Riders....
I finally realized who does Jet's voice, it's Usopp from One Piece(Don't forget, 4Kids does the voices). And I figured out something, if you hold A near the end of a road you get to do tricks as well as any ramp that doesn't already go to trick mode automatically. Also, some tracks are clones of other tracks, which is unfortunate.
There is a bit of replay value too. With using rings that you get on tracks, you can buy boards, skate shoes and scooters that have different stats. There are also Mission modes where you do certain things at a time limit and are rated with Bronze, Silver and Gold. That nicely adds gameplay hours.

Jet is done by the same guy who does Sonic's (and Usopp's, for that matter) voice, Jason Griffith.
The Chaos Emerald gear is pimpin' yo.

And Jason Griffith also does shadows' voice... so pritty much usopp does Jet, Sonic, and Shadow. A scary thought when you think about it.

It's funny how 4Kids have very few voice actors so a lot of characters are done by a single person, from Brock and Seto Kaiba to Tails and Dori.
