I have just beaten Metal Gear Solid 4 and I can def say that this game series continued to have the best story in gaming history. Even to rival printed media and motion pictures. It also is the best looking game in history. Yes I know Crysis exists, but it has no art with its tech.
Those who want a great experience must experience this, but only, and I mean ONLY, if you experienced Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation/PC/GameCube[Twin Snakes]), Metal Gear Solid 2(PS2/Xbox/PC) and Metal Gear Solid 3(PS2). MGS: Portable Ops(PSP) would help a little bit too. Refresh yourself by replaying the older ones if you forgot some of the story, believe me, you'll need to.
Also a thing to know is that I put 18 hours in this game, but only 9 hours was actual PLAYING the game, the other 9 was sheer cutscenes. It's a great movie. Sadly the excellent gameplay wasn't stretched out for enjoyment. Wasn't even really stealthy to tell you the truth. Don't go rushing to by a PlayStation 3 for this game, but def try to experience this final chapter. watch over someone playing it, borrow it from someone or something, but it's not worth the price of admission. Know why? Nothing else coming out for this console that I'll buy.
I can't even tell you anything about it, that many spoilers.

Hmm, well I've never played a MGS game to be honest, so I guess I'll want to maybe play through those before I try this, which I plan to, sometime.
So, did this game deserve the 10 it got from IGN and GS? Sure sounds like it.

No actually it doesn't. If you took out the cutscenes, the game is incredibly short, as well as its not as stealthy as in MGS3. If you know what you're doing and skipped the cutscenes, you're looking at 5 hours(there's a reward for beating it under 5 hours). 10 means blow 500 bucks for this game because you don't have the console. As much as I hate GTA, GTA4 deserves a 10, there's just too much good content to say otherwise. But MGS as a VIDEO GAME, it falls a bit short
