This is one of my fav animes cause I got into it over a decade ago with the lame US dub(which I thought wasn't bad, but the edits killed it) on Kids WB. It aired either at 11am or before Pokemon at 9:30am, which were primo spots for air time personally, until it wasn't recieving the ratings it wanted and shuned to the 8am spot.
The (now that I watched it uncut) anime had memorable characters, cool story and nice action scenes and really made me like it(I kinda ignored the same sex crushes, forcing myself to believe it was strictly admiration than affection).
I've really gotten into the series once I bought the uncut subtitled ones from Geneon, but wished it was given a dub. But recently I learned something. The uncut episodes were dubbed in English from Animax, a company that do good work on that. Problem is that they were only aired in SE Asia.

There IS a way around that, if you look hard enough.
I've never read/watched CCS, so I can't really form an opinion on it. CLAMP is a bit of a hit or miss with me, having loved Chobits but hated Tsubasa, which is apparently the sequel.

Cardcaptor Sakura is to Tsubasa like Kingdom Hearts is to World Ends with You. Same characters but put into a different scenario. Tsubasa is a fantasy action anime while Cardcaptor Sakura takes place outside Tokyo in modern times(which is now 10 years ago), just with the whole Magical Girl thing.
