To start, go to www.clickteam.com and DL a demo of Multimedia Fusion or The Games Factory. There are several tutorials for basic fangame making at sfghq.emulationzone.org. These include spindash, gringing, and whatnot. Also, drop me an AIM if you'de like assistance with anything.

How long do you think that will be? The tutorials on TGF are good but it always helps to have interactive help.

Those tutorials never helped me that much. My brother learned on his own, and I learned from him. All I can say is this: be patient when learning how to use TGF. You can't make a great game if you rush the learning process. Hope that info helped somehow!

It's also a good idea to make your fangame stand out. If you want to put it online, try to make something unique or different, or atleast add a "twist" to it. People will get sick of the same thing over and over again eventually, so it's best to try something new. However, if you're new at making fangames, start with something short and simple. However, in the end... you can make any type of game you want to make. Add one more ting to that list, Bluehog. Dedication. A game won't make it far if you're not dedicated to completing it. My twin bro has made sooo many uncompleted games, and never finishes them because he loses his dedication in that particular game.

True enough Tails, you need dedication. It also helps to not work on multiple games at once, for that leaves you in your brother's stiuation of many uncomleted games. Dedication is needed to make a good fan game. Showdown took me over 6 months to make due to my schedule. That is dedication www.angelfire.com/games5/bluehog/showdown.html

Sonic Showdown, that is a fighting game, right? And now you're working on Sonic Battle 2, correct? Wow, fighting games seem to be your specialty.

Hey sparky! I know of a LOT of tools to make a game, they are ranked in difficulty to use, 1 being the easiest to use. 1. RPGMaker2000(Lots of games, cancelled and/or being made for this one,a bit restricting) 2. Game Maker (Pound Snufflers! Yay! ;D, best all rounder/) 3. Jamagic(I never got to grips with it, it is HARD TO USE : If anyone wants a list of ALL the games i have made/am making/cancelled, just ask. But the biggest games for each tool are: 1:Xiliana Oxotion(Cancelled, complete) 2.Pound Snufflers(complete) 3. Never started a game.

If you've got some programming experience, try Python and its add-on Pygame. Freeware, easy-to-use, and powerful. Not nearly so simple as a dedicated game-maker program, but much more flexible.
