[glow=red,2,300]You can't MAKE Gameshark codes, I don't think. I think it requires a lot of serious hacking and concentration. But, leave it to the professionals. Just go to www.GameShark.com or www.Gamesages.com to get the latest codes and cheats.[/glow]

To make codes, you must find them first (lots of fun). Depending on what kind of device you're using, you first have to tell it to take a snapshot of all the addresses currently in ram. The newer gamesharks should have a button to bring up a menu or something to do this. If you know the exact number, enter it. If not, then continue back to the game. and do something to change the value (such as get hit or lose a life if that's what your hunting down). Then we return to the code screen. It will want to know what happened to the value, so we have to tell it how it changed. If you told it you had 3 lives before, and you're back now after losing a life, tell it you have 2. Then it will search for all the values in ram that dropped according to what happened. The values that went up (such as time) will stay because it couldn't be your life or lives (or whatever it is in this example). Go back to the game and repeat the steps. Lets say you gain a life. Tell the codescreen that the value went up. After awhile, there will be only a few values that meet the change pattern that you specified. One of them has to be the one you're looking for. At this point, you can pick the remaining few addresses (I'd say anything above 10 needs to be searched down more). Let's say we have 3 addresses left that we can't narrow down more by searching. Give them a value (such as 9). Your lives should say 9 if you found the right address. Once the codes are on, the value is locked and cannot change (thus meaning infinit lives, etc). Turn off one of the codes and lose a life. If it stayed the same, then delete the code you turned off since it was not the one (its one of the 2 still turned on). Then try the same thing with another code turned on. Then do the same thing until you know which code was working.
That's basically it. These instructions will work for hunting codes on Gameshark, Code Breaker, zsnes, Game Shock, and the others.

You can hack Gameshark codes, it is just complicated. Now Action Replay codes is a different story. Those codes cant be hacked. Last time I checked, Pro Action Replay codes were the simplest and easiest to hack. they were something like aaaaaaaa : dddd where a is the address and d is the data. Gameshark are the same way. Even the old Game Genies codes could be converted to the same format. It's just made up differently.

[glow=purple,2,300]what is a gameshark?[/glow] A gameshark is a device that allows you to use cheats. It's either a cart that goes into your system and has a slot for the game, or it may be a boot cd (depending on console). It allows you to activate cheats such as infite lives, start on final stage, unlock hidden characters, etc. And you can search for your own codes too. Basically its used for cheating or hacking games.

I don't use GameSharks for cheating. Instead I like to mess with the game by changing the value the something that shouldn't work. For example, on Mario Kart 64, I set the Always Get Specific Item code to pick items that don't exist. In Pokemon I used the Always Battle code to fight glitch pokemon that don't really exist for fun.

I don't have any gamesharks, & I've never used one, but I've read a little about it, & it sounds cool. The systems I have are Dreamcast, Gamecube, GBA SP, & my brother has a PS2, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, SNES & a Genesis. We used to have a NES, Atari Jaguar, Game Gear, & a Virtual Boy.

in my gameshark there is this thing that allows you to read all values in the games RAM. I know that this part is a little off topic but, XFox how would I go about reading the memory without using any program?

Gameshark is a hacking utility that became popular after the "Game Genie" When Nintendo released the N64. Personally, i dont like gameshark because you ever read those warnings about some codes causing permenant effects? That can happen, and you dont know it, even if the code is unmarked.

Is it possible for someone to find some codes to screw around with Heroes so I can alway play with just Tails, but he has light dash and the ability to break things like Knuckles? This way it becomes Tails Heroes! ;D
