Can't believe no one's made a topic about this yet. Well, it is an old game.
Oh. My. God. That's really all I have to say about the game, in a nutshell. The backgrounds are insane for a 10 year old game, every tune is excellent, as opposed to only a few that I like, the fighting system is great, the story is just wow. FF7 is my favorite game, hands down. This is probably a redundant question, but who else has played this masterpiece of a game?

Im surprised that no one did this in the 3 years we've been up. I loved the game too. I actually didn't play it until January last year, but it is amazing. The backgrounds are the only thing I didn't like just because it's only a picture and not real models. The only real models were the characters and the invisible trails they walked on. But yea, it's a classic.

They may only be a picture, but they look really good. Those Japanese really know how to make them.

So Square Enix is basicall making FF VII an entire series in itself. With FFVII, Advent Children, Dirge, Dirge: The Lost Episode (Cell Phone game), Before Crisis (Cell phone) and Crisis Core (PSP). To make sure everyone knows, there's no remake. At least yet, wait til after the FF XIII (Which kinda is becoming another series with XIII and Versus XIII for PS3, and Agito XIII (Cell phone))

If they do make a FFVII remake, I'd buy the PS3 purely for that. Pontiac Firebird be damned!
I wonder if Crisis Core is going to be good, though I won't be able to play it unless a PSP, which I'm probably not going to do.

On a releated note when I was talking about how FF games getting their own series in themselves. It seems the newest rumor is that Final Fantasy XII will have a side story on the DS.

Square Enix really hit the nail with FF VII. First FF game to have 3D models, had very nice game vids, and the backrounds were just beautiful. I especially liked the music and plot, though. Anyone read that it was even dubbed as "one of the greatest games of all"? [Linky]From what I remember, the "PS3 Remake" of FF7 was only a demo, where they redid the opening video to what they can -now- manage. I don't know if they'll remake it for the PS3, but if we bug them enough, perhaps...

The greatest game of all time thing is packaged on the back of the game's case too.

It totally deserves it. It completely blew Ocarina of Time away, which was my favorite game up until I played FF7.
