I'm rather fond of a few games in the Fantasy Zone series as well. I've never played the arcade version yet but the Sega Ages remake of it is pretty good. Can't say the same for the Master System port though. As good as the first one is, I really find Super Fantasy Zone on the Mega Drive to be the best in the series, it basicly improved upon almost everything from the first one except for a few useless shop items. Though I don't recall a detailed story in the first one, espically not one of a typical RPG.
The maze one on Master System is pretty cool as well.

I have this game for the Turbo GrafX 16 and also beat it. I guess Sega has made titles for other consoles even earlier than the Genesis days. I notice the shop music here is the same as in Super Hang-on on the Genesis too.

Live old topic!
Lets see, I've got Fantasy Zone (The Mega Cartridge) for Master System. What happens is that you start out by building your own space ship. Then you take off for The Fantasy Zone. Fly through screen after screen of perilous worlds. As you try to bring peace to a troubled universe.
